My Light: A Bergerette*
it takes leap of faith,
and some creeping wraith,
to write.
It takes great valor,
and candid candor,
to fight
writer’s agony
so let your words, be
my light.

NOTE: My WP friends, please let us all be kind enough to comment back to those who appreciate our work.
I would attest that the awesome people who have been consistently showing love for my pieces boost my confidence. But most of all, they inspire me to write better.
Because of them, I want to be one’s inspiration too. I want to be an encourager, especially for writers who I personally admire.
If your blog is a leap of faith, so as theirs. If you work diligently for your posts, so as them. If your words are special, so as theirs.
Life and work happen, but be sure to take some time to show gratefulness to people who showed you that your words matter, because their time is precious too.
May our words be the light that brightens our little blogging community. ❤

The Virelai, is a narrative, an expanded Lai and a member of the Lai family of forms. A poem of a single Virelai stanza is known as a Bergerette*.
The Virelai is:
- stanzaic, any number of nonets (9 line stanzas) may be written at the discretion of the poet. One nonet is called a Bergerette or a Lai when made up of 3 tercets.
- syllabic, syllables per line 5-5-2-5-5-2-5-5-2.
- rhymed, it carries a running rhyme from stanza to stanza. aabaabaab bbcbbcbbc ddcddcddc etc until the end, in which the long line rhyme of the first stanza is repeated as the short line rhyme of the last stanza, ffaffaffa.
Small and impressive poetry……….

I definitely agree about your note. I reply to comments left on my blog, and especially if people continue to comment, I’ll make the time to return the favor (I think you’ve seen that firsthand, often as a result, I’ll follow if I wasn’t already and I’ll make an effort to continue to comment). I have so many people dropping by to visit, some in response to my visit to them, but others they’re curious about something. I always try to be encouraging and help give people the confidence to share their writing. That’s the best way to grow and evolve. Also, beautiful little poem. 💕

Yes, I would attest to your lovely kindness, Sarah! I once told you I admire great authors like you who remained so kind despite being able to publish several hit novels. (Most of your books are nearly 5-star reads!) YOU are RARE! And the kindness you share is indeed a light for us! ❤ Thank you!

I was told repeatedly while growing up that I’d never be happy, no one would love me, and that I’d never be good at anything. That’s one if the reasons I set out to write. I’ve always loved it, and it was my way of fighting back to that voice that still haunts me today. I’m still shocked that so many people love my books. That many five stars is rare, and I’m humbled that I’ve managed to prove him wrong. Thus is one of the reasons why I am so supportive to others. No one deserves to hear that something they love is rubbish. 💕

Oh wow. Thank you for sharing that piece of you, Sarah! I admire how you incessantly pushed back those voices and prove them wrong in your own way. 5-star ratings are truly rare, and so are you, so you truly deserve them. 🙂 I am looking forward to reading you books, soon. ❤

This poem sums up a writer’s life perfectly. You catch the emotions so well with your words. Do you also speak lyrically in normal day to day work… I can’t imagine you not rhyming. 🙂 No, I know I am being silly.
Candour is a difficult word to rhyme.

HAHAHA! And so I look back and try to hear myself talking to be sure if I don’t rhyme when I speak. HAHA! 😀 😀 😀 One of my blogger said I can be a rapper because my poems almost always rhyme! 😀
Thank you, Indy! 😀

Such beautiful words and poetry, thank you Rose! You phrase so well the words of the heart, the struggle of the pen, the battle for the lines that -in reading- seem to flow effortlessly. Only the author knows the agony of every extraction for each word. Not immediately obvious, results driven, and yet writers know and understand. The drive to support is powerful and important within such communities. Thank you for lighting that candle in the grey fog of twilight.

Perfect! I read this and kept nodding throughout thinking, “yes! That’s how I feel!” I’ve been blogging/writing for a couple of years and it’s difficult to know whether what I write is good or not if I don’t get much feedback. I also try my best and make sure I visit other sites and give them feedback too. If we don’t encourage each other, how will any of us survive? How will any of us grow?
Dear Rose, how do you manage to capture true feelings and emotions and write them so well, I’ll never know 🙂 🙂 ❤

That is true… I share your thoughts, NJ. And I really want to spread the word that we can all be encouragers. We can all be inspiration. And that each of us need each and everyone of us. 🙂 ❤
