Poems for S: perhaps volume 1

Containing over 100 poems written in a span of several years, this collection features the unsure and the blurry beginnings of a relationship made possible by Instagram. Yes, you read that right. Instagram.

Beyond physical attraction, it was and still is a soul connection between a poet and a musician/photographer parted by mountains and seas.

The poems carry a true story of how the everyday calls between two artists turned from friendly to something more. How it took them both by surprise. How they were both afraid and unsure.

With four chapters, swinging from certain to uncertain, from happy to sad, from loved to hurt, from longing to glad; this book covers the mosaic of feelings all hearts go through when “in love”.

More than the poetic forms and the metaphors used, this book is first and foremost a gift from one heart to another. From a she to her “he”, wrapped with a prayer for their love to be blessed be.

REVIEWS

This is her story; it’s raw, emotional, relatable and pure and these are the qualities that made it my story too. I felt her words and her heart. I reflected, contemplated and I had my ah-ah moments.

Between My Bleeding Lines is more than a well written and thought provoking poetry book.

It’s a friend that understands your pain and will help you to find the switch that lights the dark places within you.

It’s worth taking home.”

Jennifer Asheley Anum

“Whether you’re a lover of poetry or are someone who has experienced heartbreak, this book is definitely for you. R.C. Gonzales captures those things that the heart feels and the mind processes that are oftentimes difficult to articulate in such a way that it speaks to the soul.

A. L. Roberts

“There are three words to describe this book, powerful, raw and real.

R.C.Gonzales holds nothing back when it comes to expressing her true feelings on love and loss. While our own hearts can’t help but go along for the ride, she doesn’t leave us out on a limb. These poems model the heart of a survivor not a victim, taking us on a poetic journey of the heart…we gain strength too.”

Gilda Patricia

“A deeply honest and tender journey into the heart of a young woman who loves well. It is the heartbreak of falling in love with someone who does not see just how amazingly special she is.”

Gloria of Lecosymittens

“The journey from heartbreak to healing is told with eloquence and depth in this debut poetry collection. R. C. Gonzales weaves emotion into every word.

This poetry book explores the growth of a young heart learning to pick up its broken pieces and discovering its own strength. The poems are short, but each packs a wallop of emotion.

I have personally been a fan of R. C. Gonzales since before her debut book, after originally following her on WordPress. This is a girl with one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever known and her capacity for love is evident in the way she writes: a tinge of melancholy echoes through her poetry, but always present is her underlying message of being brave to love not just others, but oneself.

This is a stellar debut from a young poet who has so much more to share with the world!”

“I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys reading thought-provoking poetry. Anyone that has ever loved and lost and looks to the future again. This one is for you.”

Sarah Doughty

“The short poems were written in free verse but rhyme was sometimes used for effective emphasis. There is nothing cryptic here either which is as it should be for the topic of heartbreak.

You are expected to empathize with the poet’s position, not puzzle over it. At the same time, there is nothing trivial about the unexpected insights these poems provide. They describe a perspective many people have had, but few have expressed so well.

The ebook is attractively laid out with titles below the text of the poems rather than the first thing you see. The titles become summaries rather than introductions. The table of contents is placed at the end with links to the poems and serves also as an index. Both of these features allow you to get to the heart of the poems right away.”

  1. Two books, and she has just started, Or may I say, not even started. I have been fortunate to witness the journey of this exception poetess, seeing her poems taking birth, and then flying towards the apex heights of the sky, finally condensing on the hearts of us readers. These two books are bound to relate to at least one situation of your life, and the words would hit you hard, and then sit with you through the afternoon to heal the wounds.
This is no ordinary poetess. She was never meant to be ordinary.
