Awardsss and Seven Facts

Nothing beats the joy of getting acknowledgements from your co-bloggers. – rosemawrites

Maybe this is the last time that I will say that? But that doesn’t mean I am not grateful, because I am actually more than grateful.

Let’s start the thank you’s cause I can sense this will be a looooong post!

THANK YOU:

  • Yvo and Leanne for giving me the Infinity Dreams Award.

  • My dear Ishma for giving me One Lovely Blog Award

  • Rachel for giving me the Creative Blogger Award

  • 27writers for giving me the Dragons Loyalty Award

dragons-loyalty-award

From the bottom of my heart, I really want to thank you guys! 🙂 There are thousands or even millions or even billions of bloggers, and the mere act of nominating me is both touching and humbling.

Thank youuuu!

I’ll be breaking rules here because I will just share seven facts about me and nominate a lot of lovely lovely bloggers!

SEVEN RANDOM FACTS

1. I tend to listen to sad songs when I’m happy, and to happy/uplifting songs when I’m sad.

Quite ironic, eh?

2. I have necrophobia.

Necrophobia is a specific phobia which is the irrational fear of dead things (e.g., corpses) as well as things associated with death (e.g., coffins, tombstones, funerals, cemeteries).

And, I haven’t looked/seen any dead people EVER! Even my grannies. I can’t…

3. According to Myers Briggs, I am an ESTJ personality or ‘The Executive’.

Yeah…Hmmm. 🙂

4. I am fascinated with butterflies.

I find them magical and endearing. 🙂

5. I don’t like fireworks for my wedding day, I want flying lanterns. ❤

Wedding’s too far but yes, I have my preferences already! 😀

6. I prefer male singers than female singers…

Like Jason Mraz, John Mayer… ❤

7. I am somehow… slowly… becoming… a WordPress addict!

Shhh! It’s a secret! 😀

And my nomineeeees are:

NOTE: I know some of you are an award-free blog and that is perfectly fine. 🙂 I nominated you not to pressure you to answer, but to show you that for me, you deserve all these awards, too!

Nothing beats the joy of getting acknowledgements from your co-bloggers. – rosemawrites

It’s better late, than never so it is now my turn to answer the questions of dearest Petitewise. 🙂

Before that, I would want to thank her first for such a heartwarming description for me which goes:

Rosemawrites – Sometimes nostalgic, sometimes joyful, I always feel a little more uplifted whenever I read one of her posts.”

Those words just melt my heart. ❤ Please do visit her lovely blog: Petitewise.

So… let’s proceed to the award.

For those who do not know Liebster Award, it is a blog award given by a blogger to his/her co-bloggers. This award’s idea is to let new bloggers be known to other writers around the World Wide Web.

  • If you love singing, what is your go-to karaoke song? OR if you don’t love singing, what is your go-to late night driving song?

I am actually a church worship leading. 😀 (Yeah! Believe me!) But when I am in videoke/karaoke, my favorite pieces are songs by Sara Bareilles, Colbie Callait, The Corrs and Vanessa Carlton! 😀

  • What is your comfort food?

Food. So I assume coffee isn’t counted? 😀 Hmm.. It’s probably cheesecake. And… the Filipino favorite LTB or Lugaw, Tokwa, Baboy! 😀 (Calories!)

Mine!
  • What is the most common compliment you receive?

Hmm. It is mostly about my written works. 🙂 And I think those are the greatest compliment that I can have! 🙂

  • In what environment(s) do your most inspired thoughts come to you?

Buses. My long commute inspire story ideas and poetic contents. 🙂

  • Tell us one little quirk or eccentric thing about yourself and why you do it.

I noticed that I tend to love happy songs when I am sad, and I tend to prefer sad songs when I am happy. Quite ironic, eh? 😀

  • On a scale of 0 to 10, what is your stress level? (‘0′ being no stress whatsoever and ’10’ being nonstop-fetal-position)

Hmmm. I think I’m at 5. 🙂 I am carefully balancing my stress level. 😀

Liebster Award (3rd and 4th!)

Nothing beats the joy of getting acknowledgements from your co-bloggers. – rosemawrites

With all the blessings and things that I am more than grateful these past 50 Days, it is now time to acknowledge the awards given to me last year. 🙂 Yep. Last year!

Sorry for the super late response, Caitlin, Anakhan, and Christopher! I truly appreciate your sweet gestures! ❤

For those who do not know Liebster Award, it is a blog award given by a blogger to his/her co-bloggers. This award’s idea is to let new bloggers be known to other writers around the World Wide Web.

The simple rules are:

  1. Thank and link the blogger who nominated you
  2. Answer their 11 questions
  3. Nominate 11 bloggers who have less than 200 followers and link them
  4. Have your nominees answer your 11 questions
  5. Notify nominees through social media

Here are Caitlin, Anakhan and Christopher’s questions!

  1. What got you started with your blog?

I am a Journalism graduate and to be a writer has been my dream ever since. But it took me so many years before I started blogging.

My very first post Agony, described how I collected myself and braced myself for the unknown as I started blogging. I was full of fears and inhibitions. The quote,

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” – Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

…pushed me to take that leap and start writing for A Reading Writer.

  1. Post a link to your favorite blog post you have written and explain why it is your favorite.

Hmm. This is a bit hard. I love all my post, actually, because for me they’re my babies. 🙂 So let’s just consult the annual blogging report by WordPress!

And… the top three posts last year are:

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Quotes I Loved From The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom

Writing 101: Seasons (the beginning of a four-part series)

and Writing 101: The Yellow Bus.

  1. What is your favorite color?

It’s purple! 😀

Credit: This is actually my desktop background. 🙂
  1. Where do you get inspiration to blog?

Hmmm… I usually write my poems and fictional stories when I am in a bus. I don’t know why but maybe my 2-hour commute surely generate creative juices. 😀

Aside from the bus, my stories are mostly inspired by songs that I loved. Like Used to be Mine and Quite Like You.

  1. Where would you like to travel that you haven’t travelled to yet?

Outside the country, my answer is Nami Island in South Korea. 🙂

But I have no budget for such trips yet so realistically, I would want to visit Visayas’ stunning sandbar beaches like Kalanggaman Island in Leyte.

Credit
  1. What was your favorite book or movie as a child?

I am not an avid reader when I was a kid, so I guess I’ll just share my favorite book as of now and that is The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom. 🙂

The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto

My favorite movie as a child is The Princess Diaries! 😀 I just love Mia Thermopolis! 😀

  1. What is your favorite season and why?

I love winter. Maybe because there is no winter here in the Philippines that is why it is my dream to see, feel, smell(?) snow! 😀

Credit
  1. Any goals for your blog?

I’ve shared my plans for this year. I guess the most important is the last plan which is To follow more, comment more, inspire more, write more!

  1. Do you have a bucket list? What is number 1?

I have yet to formally list my bucket list (what? :D), but travelling is surely the number 1!

  1. Favorite thing to blog about?

Books! And fictions, song-based fictions. 😀

  1. What’s your dream job?

To be a newspaper reporter. 🙂 Specifically, a Philippine Star reporter. 🙂

DAY 30 of 50 Days of Gratefulness

Today I am grateful for WordPress’ 2015 in review for A Reading Writer! YAY! ❤

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 11,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

BLOG AWARDS: Blogger Recognition Award (2nd and 3rd!)

Nothing beats the joy of getting acknowledgements from your co-bloggers. – rosemawrites

This week has been the finale week of Blogging University’s Writing 101! That journey has been tremendously fun because of the new writers/bloggers that have become my super (virtual) friends.

To my surprise, two awesome co-Writing-101-ers nominated me for yet again another awesome award, that’s the Blogger Recognition Award created by the book blog, Edge of Night

First, thank you so much La duchesse d’ Erat! If you are looking for great short reads, and even long ones, you can drop by to her blog!

I would also want to give my warm thank you hugs to my newest Filipina friend based in US, Pancake Bunnykins of A Real Messy Beautiful Twisted Sunshine! Her posts are all good reads and the photos that she shares make me drool too much! Her blog’s definitely worth your time!

Going back to this award, here’s what to do once you are nominated:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
  • Write a post to show off your award!
  • Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers.
  • Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog.
  • List who you’ve nominated in the post. Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing! (It happens LOL).

First of all, here are the 15 awesome blogs (they are some of my new followers!) that I would like to read and know more about:

NOTE: If you don’t do blog awards anymore, that is totally okay. I just hope that I made you smile today. 🙂

How my blog started:

In my very first post, Agony, I included a quote:

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” – Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

I have been afraid of starting my own blog even though I am a Journalism graduate. I feared the bashers and the Grammar Nazi’s.

But it was August 28, 2014 when I ditch all my fears and brave my way to this blogosphere! 😀

Advice to new bloggers:

Personally, I think I am in no position yet to give tips because I am a newbie myself. I only have more than 200 followers. 🙂

But as a writer, I would like to say that:

  • Just be TRUE to yourself.
  • Just BELIEVE in yourself.
  • Just be FRIENDLY to your co-bloggers.
  • Just have FUN.

———-

Thank you again La duchesse d’ Erat and Pancake Bunnykins of A Real Messy Beautiful Twisted Sunshine!

Share the blog-love, everyone!

BLOG AWARDS: The Infinity Dreams Award

Nothing beats the joy of getting acknowledgements from your co-bloggers. – rosemawrites

It is better late than never so let me say my heartfelt thanks to my lovely blogger-friends, Arpita of Scribbles@Arpita for giving me yet another heartwarming award, The Infinity Dreams Award.

Please do visit her lovely blog if you want read eye-opening essays and intriguing and entertaining fictions! Her wit is contagious, too!

So, here’s how this award works.

———

The Rules:

1.Thank and follow the blog that nominated you.

2.Tell us 11 facts about yourself.

3.Answer the questions that were set for you to answer.

4.Nominate 11 bloggers and set questions for them.

———

Here are Appy’s, that’s Arpita’s nickname and she allowed me to call her that, questions for me!

Tell me, in one sentence, what is your blog about?

A Reading Writer is a blog that talks about a life of a writer who reads and a reader who writes with music in-betweens!

Who is your best friend?

I actually have a lot of best friends but the bestest are my college buddies, Rica and Ericka.

L-R: Ericka, Me :), my little sister and Rica

Do you have pets?

I sadly have none. I had a pet rabbit before but I unintentionally killed her. 😦

If you could meet one person from any period in history (it may even be fictional), who would it be?

I really want to see Mitch Albom. His words have touched me in a very special way and it is really a dream to see or even talk to him. So, yes. That’s him.

From: http://mitchalbom.com/

What is the sweetest thing someone ever did for you?

Oh my. Really? Hmm. I’ve been in a relationship for five years now and yes he is sweet. He has done a lot of extravagant surprises like posting a huge ‘monthsary’ greeting in my college’s hallway with our picture on it! (I was actually ashamed when he did that.)

But I think the sweetest, for me, is during those times when he patiently waits for me for more than five hours, or I think even more. He did this during our college days and even until now. 🙂

Which were the best years of your life – childhood, youth or whichever age you’re now?

I think… my childhood is awesome. I had a happy childhood. I also has a blast when I was in high school. College’s a bit hard but I’ve got some bunch of great friends that made it more fun.

Now… I am enjoying every minute of my life as a writer and as a blogger. So I think… I am blessed to have those awesome years and I am more than ready for the best that is yet to come! 😀

Do you suffer from any kind of phobia?

Oh yes! I think it’s necrophobia. I am afraid of the dead. I mean dead body. Even animal’s dead body. My grand pop and grand mom have died but I was never able to look at them inside the coffin because I am really really afraid. I have never seen ANY dead body yet.

Can you spend the day without looking at the clock?

Yes. Especially when I am crouched in my bed reading a good book and sipping a warm bitter coffee while a Jason Mraz song is playing. 😀

Which is the cutest animal that you’ve ever seen for real?

That’s my pet. Mogu. She is just the cutest rabbit ever! 😦

Do wishes come true?

I am not sure. But I do believe that prayers come true. 🙂

The last but not the least, the classic one: Love is ……………

Haha! Really? Hmm.

Love is overrated and complicated but it’s a bliss, definitely!

My questions for you guys! (There are some cliches here. Forgive me. ~)

  1. Describe yourself in ONE word.
  2. How long have you been in the blogosphere?
  3. What is the most rewarding part of blogging for you?
  4. What is that one book that touched you in a very special way?

  6. If you are an animal, what would you like to be and why?
  7. What is that one embarrassing moment that you just want to keep? (Please share!)
  8. If you are not you, then who would you like to be?
  9. Where is that one place that you badly want to visit?
  10. What’s the weirdest wish/hope that you have secretly said?
  11. What are your top three long-term goals?

And finally, I nominate these awesome bloggers:

  1. The Short Story Press
  2. Teenella
  3. Being a Book Nerd
  4. Word Nerd

  6. Part Time Yogini

Rosema

BLOG AWARDS: The Creative Blogger (2nd!)

Nothing beats the joy of getting acknowledgements from your co-bloggers. – rosemawrites

Words cannot express how flattering it feels to receive nominations from equally awesome bloggers.

As you all know, I am now having a lot of fun in Writing 101 course. Apart from the exciting exercises that I truly enjoy, I am relishing my moment as a Writing 101-ers because of the great writers that I know, now.

Annie of What the Woman Wrote is one of those bloggers/writers that I would like to now consider as a virtual friend. Just recently, she gave me another Creative Blogger Award!
With or without this award, I would say that she is the epitome of this. Her blog, that is super worth visiting, is packed with a lot of nicely-written words and creatively-captured photos. So you better drop by.

Here are the rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  2. Share 5 facts about yourself.
  3. Nominate some bloggers in return and notify them about their nomination.
  4. Keep the rules in your post to make it easy for everyone to know what to do.

Five Facts About Me:

1. I have a big family, big in number and size. (laughs)

I am the eldest among six children and yeah, my dad, my mom, my sister and I are all literally big. 😀

2. I am in a relationship for almost five years now. (blushes)

Sorry for being too cheesy. (Am I oversharing? :D)

3. You all know that I am a book lover and Nicholas Sparks and Mitch Albom are my favorite authors, so now I want to share to you that I am a librocubicularist.

I mostly read at night after work as reading is my form of relaxation. 🙂

4. I am a coffee-and-cheesecake person!

Because I am really used to like the uncommon favorites, I like coffee more than tea (I don’t even drink tea, actually) and I love cheesecakes more than any cake variety.

My recent eccentric food fave is salted caramel ice cream! 😀

5. Aside from my love of writing and reading, I am a church worship leader, too. 🙂 Kari Jobe and Darlene Zschech are my inspirations. 🙂

Now, I am not sure if you guys participate with blog awards but I am more than happy to let you know that you indeed deserve a CREATIVE BLOGGER award. 🙂

Sorry for nominating a lot but you guys are just so awesome! 🙂 My Writing 101 experience has been great because of you!

Cheers!
