Your loud ‘get up’
has always been
my first day’s noise.
Now I hear nothing
but the ghost
of your voice.

I write because I read. I read because I write.
Your loud ‘get up’
has always been
my first day’s noise.
Now I hear nothing
but the ghost
of your voice.

Hmmm…I can run so many different directions with this one. The memory that calls most to mind is my grandma waking my mom up for mass at dawn. She is no longer with is. She is a happy spirit now.

“The ghost of your voice,” seems to be a good thing as in remembering what was said, but it no longer being said because the person is gone. Great poetry Rosema 🙂

Intriguing title, sister! You identify and explicate, poetically, a great truth. I think we all hear some version of these voices.
