Nefarious: A Nonet*

The world is slowly dying, f-a-d-i-n-g
as grief’s black smoke covers beings,
billions soul d-i-e-s unwilling,
caused by all and nothing,
maybe humans just
love killing ‘til
earth ends with
nothing,
none.

  1. Really well-crafted work, sister. The universe ultimately fades in entropy–in energy the universe will no longer be able to contain or have. As the poem says (and which gave me the word to use in a form in the previous sentence), we are “f-a-d-i-n-g.” Maybe not in the same way as entropy. I think for many there is simply giving up. We’re covered in “grief’s black smoke,” and that’s a heavy burden. It doesn’t help that, as the poem rightly asserts, we appear to be easy in killing. Modernism believed that the Earth, that we, end with a whimper. But there’s a telling proposition here–that Earth, that we, might end with “nothing,/none.”

Grim appraisal, though reasonable. I think we have to live hopefully, though my experience might lead me to believe otherwise. Not yet, though. Hope persists.

Thank you for this extraordinary commentary!

    1. Wow, brother. You surely read each and every line and gave it the meaning I never thought I was able to put into. Wow. I am in awe of your intelligence, both the intellectual and the emotional and the spiritual too!
YES! Earth will surely end in entropy if we stopped hoping. That’s the only good thing we can do, to hope.
      Thank you, brother!

      1. I know, dear heart–it’s incomprehensible, can’t wrap my head around all that hatred. I’m no saint, I have my issues with people…but I could never carry it so nefariously far. xxoo, stella
