bang: a quadrille

walking bones and flesh
talking nerves
cartilages

machinery – dark inside –
yet summer warm

with heart as sun

i wonder those with
long long guns

as they fire
bang

see blood and brain
splattered

who is the god
who honors

what their masked lips
prayed?

For dVerseQuadrille #134: We {heart} poems – De’s word for us today is “heart”

This poem was intended to be bright as a happy heartbeat. And then bang.

  1. R.W.,
Your words pack a punch. The images of “talking nerves,” “masked lips,” “blood and brain,” overwhelm the final mocking indictment. It’s after all no “god” but themselves and others of their ilk they serve.
