A bat flies towards the berry tree. If it has a fruit on its mouth, it’s too dark to see. The dinner’s curry cooks with cumin, turmeric, kashmiri, with some cinnamon bark and cardamom, too. Afternoon’s rain anointed the soil just before the stars woke up. The spiced-breeze eats up the last tinge of petrichor.
He opens the door to invite me in. Perhaps the rice is getting cold. I look up one more time to catch a glimpse. There, he rises, the meteor’s golden guard.

A haibun that appeals to the senses. The spices are so evocative – I love the thought of the spiced-breeze eating up the last tinge of petrichor.

Thank you, Bjorn! I can definitely share: https://notoutofthebox.in/2018/08/murgir-jhol-bengali-chicken-curry/
This is the recipe I follow with some tweaks including a marinate (yogurt + the powders cumin, coriander, kashmiri mirch, turmeric, and then garlic and ginger paste) 😉

I think I have most of the spices except the Kashmiri mirch… maybe I can use some other chili powder? I have Hungarian and Korean chili at home.

that’s awesome, Bjorn! yes. another chilli powder would suffice but make it 2/3 less than the kashmiri content (depending on how spicy you chili powder is). bec kashmiri mirch is more fragrant chilli than spicy. 😉
