Forever and Infinities

I don’t care about forever and infinities. They sound poetic and cheesy, yes. But they are abstracts lacking assuring finite.

You don’t have to promise me tomorrow. Or a grandiose wedding. Beautiful children. A steady home locked around white picket fence. Those are just social clichés.

No need to promise me the moon, the stars, and even the sun. Let them stay on their thrones. Let them shine on their own.

I just want now and you. I just need now and you.

Forget about tomorrow or the ever hopeful forever. Ditch them. Erase them. Scrap them. Just love me now.

Monday Morning Melts #2

mmm-3

Jade: Last week, Rosema kicked off Monday Morning Melts with a deeply personal song, and shared with us her heart.

This week, I chose a song to reflect the chaos erupting in my side of the world. When hatred walks around every corner, that is when love will shine the brightest.

Love Me Now – John Legend

I don’t know who’s gonna kiss you when I’m gone
So I’m gonna love you now, like it’s all I have
I know it’ll kill me when it’s over
I don’t wanna think about it, I want you to love me now

Your Turn:

  1. Share a poem, story, or photo inspired by this week’s song-lyrics-prompt. You can share something you created that was inspired directly by the lyrics or you can share other pieces that coincidentally fit the prompt (for ex: an old piece of yours, or one of a beloved blogger – with permission).
  2. Linkback/create a pingback to this post. Here is a quick tutorial on how to do it.
  3. Tag your post with MondayMorningMelts, so we and  your co-bloggers will be able to read/see your take on the prompt. Here’s how you create tags.
  4. Most important of all, read and comment to your blogger friends (old and new found, we’ll never know). 😉

There are no word limits and no restrictions except to stay true to the theme. Creating a brand new post in response to the prompt is also optional.

The goal isn’t to create new content, but rather to share pieces that melt the heart, tickle the soul, and brighten up a typically gloomy Monday. That’s why if you already have a piece that fits this week’s lyrics, or if you have a fellow blogger whose piece you want to share (with their permission), you are more than welcome to do so!

FUTURE PROMPTS

It came to our attention (thank you Sarah!) that we should reveal the prompts for the upcoming month to give all of you who would like to participate time to prepare your submissions. Here they are for the rest of November:

But when you’re alone
You’re living in a world with only choices
And what I choose is you

Although loneliness has always been a friend of mine
I’m leavin’ my life in your hands
People say I’m crazy and that I am blind
Risking it all in a glance

In the future, at the beginning of every month, we’ll reveal the prompts for that month. If anyone has any other suggestions to make Monday Morning Melts more convenient and fun, please let us know!

Because These Bloggers Created Something Beautiful With The Prompt:

Because These Melts Are Timeless & Deserve To Be Shared:

To the man I once sang “If You’re Not the One”: A Personal Letter

To the man I once sang “If You’re Not the One”,

More than six years ago, beneath the hot summer sun, in front of our church mates and childhood friends, with the old yet still working videoke, I entered a song and sang it for you– If You’re Not the One by Daniel Bedingfield.

It’s the song of my heart. The song of my heart for you on that very moment.

We are not even together then, but my heart hopes it is you who I will have for my life. I don’t believe in forever. But I believe in every waking day with you.

I wish to grow old with you. I hope to marry you. I pray it’s you, no one else.

Fast forward six years and all that we have been through. There are great days. Days when I love you more than the word love can carry and define. Then there are bad days. Days when I am too tired choosing to love, to understand.

Now, there are more bad days than good days. Mostly, we’re just okay. Not happy. Not sad either. Just okay.

For how many times have we been on the brink of ending. Like we’re both on the edge of a cliff, barely hanging, barely breathing, barely loving, ‘cause our love is undeniably dwindling.

There’s a throbbing ache as I wrote this. A feeling of a stubborn stone stocked inside my throat. But then, for all it’s worth, I am grateful. For what we had, what we still have, and for what we will lose.

Love, I have learned is more than a feeling. It is a phenomenon. A ceaseless journey. An experience filled with cheesy cloud nines and hurtful hells.

I have learned, experienced and basked in this strange sea with you. I don’t regret any bit of it. I now know, you are not the one, but you loved me at my worst and I loved you at your worst. That’s the essence of the love we had, we still have, and we don’t have anymore.

For me, that is more than enough.

With love,
Rosema

Monday Morning Melts #1

Welcome to our first Monday Morning Melts!

The first song-lyrics prompt is from If You’re Not The One by Daniel Bedingfield chosen by yours truly. A song will be more than a song when it holds a special meaning to someone’s heart, especially when a song is offered to someone your heart holds dearly.

This song is actually my almost six-year relationship’s theme song. And as an ode to our relationship, this is my first song-lyric-prompt. I hope this will inspire you to write something that will melt our hearts. 🙂

If You’re Not The One by Daniel Bedingfield

And I hope you are the one I share my life with
And I wish that you could be the one I die with
And I pray in you’re the one I build my home with

I hope I love you all my life

Your Turn:

  1. Share a poem, story, or photo inspired by this week’s song-lyrics-prompt. You can share something you created that was inspired directly by the lyrics or you can share other pieces that coincidentally fit the prompt (for ex: an old piece of yours, or one of a beloved blogger – with permission).

On that note, we’re looking forward to seeing what melts your muses’ hearts this week!

“Songs are emotions, expressed in such a way that only the soul understands.” ― Unknown

There’s something about the way the lyrics, the instruments, and the memories come together in a song that resonates in each and every one of us. Regardless of whether you prefer soft ballads or upbeat dance tracks, there’s a song for every soul.

Recently, my dear friend Jade and I came up with the idea of Monday Morning Melts, because alliteration is strong with us, and because we realized we have yet to come across a prompt that uses song lyrics.

Like songs, poems, stories, and photos can touch our hearts, move our minds, and linger in our souls. That moment you are stunned with a goofy sweet smile on your face is an inexplicable feeling. Thus, the birth of Monday Morning Melts!

What is it?

Monday Morning Melts is a weekly writing prompt posted every Monday. We’ll be using song lyrics to inspire you and get you into the Morning Melts mood.

The prompts are optional, and we welcome not only pieces inspired by the prompts directly, but also any poetry, stories, or photography that coincidentally fit that week’s prompt as well. Feel free to share others’ work, with permission, of course!

Will My Submissions Be Featured?

Yes! As the saying goes, sharing is caring.

We will feature everyone’s submissions from the previous week. The features will be split into two sections: one section for submissions inspired directly by the prompts and one section for pieces  you would like to share that also fit that week’s prompt. This second section would be a great place to shed new light on an old piece of yours or share a beloved blogger.

Why Monday?

Because Monday Blues, anyone? Most of us hate Mondays with a passion. It marks the end of a blissful weekend and the start of a long, grueling work week. We want to change that. We want to start your week on a sweet note.

As the name Monday Morning Melts suggests, we want to share poems, stories, or photos that can melt the heart, tickle the soul, and make someone’s gloomy day a little brighter.

How will I join?

Here are the 4  easy steps:

  1. Create and share a post inspired by the song-lyrics-prompt for the week. A post can be anything: a poem, a fiction, a six-word tale, or even a photo. Whatever inspires your muse.

What if I want to share on other social media?

Go for it! Jade and I are both social on other media 😉 Use the same hashtag #MondayMorningMelts on Twitter or Instagram and we’ll be able to find you there too. You can @mention us as well if you’d like. Our usernames are below:
