wish come true

You are asking why
I haven’t been writing
lately about love,
well, it’s because

you do not utter
a wish every night
once you can already
hold it with your

bare hands. So why

I haven’t been
writing about love
it’s because I
already have

you.

newton’s apple

Like how an innocent a p p l e
birthed Newton’s law of gravity,
your child-like smile, my love,
freed the caged lover inside me,

effortlessly.

Right and New

Your mom let me in with a warm smile painted on her lips. “You know the drill, my little man,” she said tapping my back as I come in. I smiled back and nod.

As usual, you are late. For almost two decades I have been waiting for you almost every day. Our parents are best friends so it is a given that we are too. We’ve been in the same school, same school bus, same everything since we are three year-old kiddos. We even used to bathed together. But of course, not anymore.

“Hey, what are you thinking?” you said with your questioning dark brown eyes.

I lifted my face and saw you kneeling just inches away in front of me. Our faces so close. You are wearing your usual plain shirt and faded jeans. Your usual pulled up raven black hair. Your usual no make-up look.

But the feeling coursing through me now is far from usual. The organ enthroned in my chest is swollen. Barely beating. Barely breathing.

This feels new and, goodness, it feels right.

In response to Monday Morning Melts #7The Script – Never Seen Anything “Quite Like You”. This is a prompt I am co-hosting with my dear friend Jade!❤

To the man I once sang “If You’re Not the One”: A Personal Letter

To the man I once sang “If You’re Not the One”,

More than six years ago, beneath the hot summer sun, in front of our church mates and childhood friends, with the old yet still working videoke, I entered a song and sang it for you– If You’re Not the One by Daniel Bedingfield.

It’s the song of my heart. The song of my heart for you on that very moment.

We are not even together then, but my heart hopes it is you who I will have for my life. I don’t believe in forever. But I believe in every waking day with you.

I wish to grow old with you. I hope to marry you. I pray it’s you, no one else.

Fast forward six years and all that we have been through. There are great days. Days when I love you more than the word love can carry and define. Then there are bad days. Days when I am too tired choosing to love, to understand.

Now, there are more bad days than good days. Mostly, we’re just okay. Not happy. Not sad either. Just okay.

For how many times have we been on the brink of ending. Like we’re both on the edge of a cliff, barely hanging, barely breathing, barely loving, ‘cause our love is undeniably dwindling.

There’s a throbbing ache as I wrote this. A feeling of a stubborn stone stocked inside my throat. But then, for all it’s worth, I am grateful. For what we had, what we still have, and for what we will lose.

Love, I have learned is more than a feeling. It is a phenomenon. A ceaseless journey. An experience filled with cheesy cloud nines and hurtful hells.

I have learned, experienced and basked in this strange sea with you. I don’t regret any bit of it. I now know, you are not the one, but you loved me at my worst and I loved you at your worst. That’s the essence of the love we had, we still have, and we don’t have anymore.

For me, that is more than enough.

With love,
Rosema

Here are the 4  easy steps:
  1. Create and share a post inspired by the song-lyrics-prompt for the week. A post can be anything: a poem, a fiction, a six-word tale, or even a photo. Whatever inspires your muse.
  2. Linkback/create a pingback to this post. Here is a quick tutorial on how to do it.
  3. Tag your post with MondayMorningMelts, so we and  your co-bloggers will be able to read/see your take on the prompt. Here’s how you create tags.
  4. Most important of all, read and comment to your blogger friends (old and new found, we’ll never know).😉

Monday Morning Melts #1

mmm-3

Welcome to our first Monday Morning Melts!

The first song-lyrics prompt is from If You’re Not The One by Daniel Bedingfield chosen by yours truly. A song will be more than a song when it holds a special meaning to someone’s heart, especially when a song is offered to someone your heart holds dearly.

This song is actually my almost six-year relationship’s theme song. And as an ode to our relationship, this is my first song-lyric-prompt. I hope this will inspire you to write something that will melt our hearts. 🙂

If You’re Not The One by Daniel Bedingfield

And I hope you are the one I share my life with
And I wish that you could be the one I die with
And I pray in you’re the one I build my home with

I hope I love you all my life

Your Turn:

  1. Share a poem, story, or photo inspired by this week’s song-lyrics-prompt. You can share something you created that was inspired directly by the lyrics or you can share other pieces that coincidentally fit the prompt (for ex: an old piece of yours, or one of a beloved blogger – with permission).
  2. Linkback/create a pingback to this post. Here is a quick tutorial on how to do it.
  3. Tag your post with MondayMorningMelts, so we and  your co-bloggers will be able to read/see your take on the prompt. Here’s how you create tags.
  4. Most important of all, read and comment to your blogger friends (old and new found, we’ll never know). 😉

There are no word limits and no restrictions except to stay true to the theme. Creating a brand new post in response to the prompt is also optional.

The goal isn’t to create new content, but rather to share pieces that melt the heart, tickle the soul, and brighten up a typically gloomy Monday. That’s why if you already have a piece that fits this week’s lyrics, or if you have a fellow blogger whose piece you want to share (with their permission), you are more than welcome to do so!

Starting next week, we’ll have Monday Morning Melts: Features to highlight all the submissions we receive.

On that note, we’re looking forward to seeing what melts your muses’ hearts this week!

Constant

Background isn't mine. But the lay-out idea's mine. :)
Background isn’t mine. But the lay-out idea’s mine. 🙂

It has been almost two months ago when I experienced my favorite artist for the First Time. That is no less than Mr. A-Z, Jason Mraz.

That night of November 24, 2014 was pleasant not only for my ears but also for my soul as Jason sang the most beautiful songs in the world and preached realities that we as humans should be aware of.

Because that was my first concert ever, I can’t help myself in singing with almost all his songs. Thankfully, I know most of the songs that he sang during the night. There are those few that I was not familiar with. One of which is Quiet, a track from his recent album YES!

I am one of those Mraz fans who fell for his upbeat music with tongue-twister-like lyrics, if you’re not familiar with what I am talking about check out Wordplay, The Remedy and Geek in the Pink. When I sing his songs, it’s like as if i’m releasing my inner angst that I seldom and almost never show.

This is the reason why I skipped Quiet among the tracks of his new album he made with the equally talented gals Raining Jane. Quiet is a bit mellow, chill and laid back kind of song. But after I heard Jason Mraz sang it live during his concert here in Manila, I was captivated.

As the crowd, who apparently love the song, sang with Jason Mraz, I can’t help but get some goosies! Especially during “Will you be my constant through it all?” part. Here’s the very awesome lyrics that’s just so touching.

Every time I go home there’s another cellphone tower
Construction getting louder,
Paving over yesterdays
You and I, we will try to find the side of it that’s pretty
While our town becomes a city,
We won’t let it be erased
Empires rise, empires fall
Will you be my constant through it all?

I will hold your hand and watch the world spin madly around this life we’re in
Oh yeah everything goes quiet
When it’s you I’m with
Oh yeah everything goes quiet
When it’s you I’m with
You, you, you…

Every once in a while,
You know I get these real bad headaches
Worried about the mistakes
That I’ve made along the way
You and I, we can’t hide from the fact that we need each other
How else will I recover when the fever comes again

Temperatures rise
Temperatures fall
Will you be my constant through it all?

I will hold your hand and watch the world spin madly around this life we’re in
Oh yeah everything goes quiet when it’s you I’m with
Oh yeah everything goes quiet when it’s you I’m with
You, you, you…

There are no words, no words when
I’m with you, you, you
Every time I hear music
They’ve added more stuff to it
Things are always moving into a futuristic place
Where you and I, we will try
We can try to dance into tomorrow
But time we’ll have to borrow
Not a minute left to waste

Heartbeats rise, heartbeats fall
Will you be my constant through it all?

Isn’t it overly sweet?! 😍 Now look for your own ‘constant’ dear reader! ❤
