above
earth’s ceiling
used to be a
floating sea where
flying
boats careen so
free. until, like
autumn leaves, millions
are dead. tiny
things inhaled-
death.
open
up like daffodils
of baby spring
baiting for
bees. unzip the
clouds. allow hellos
to happen
again.

So much imagery here….I especially love these words
“open
up like daffodils
of baby spring
baiting for
bees. ”
Thank you for posting to the prompt!

Wow, Rosema – this poem kinda makes me feel foolish because I don’t feel like I understand it – it feels like a surrealist poem to me… like if Salvador Dalí were a poet, this would be the kind of poem he’d write 🙂

oh wow. Salvador Dali. Hearing his name for the first time (my bad) but appreciate your kind words, David. Thank you!

Oh my heart this is incredibly hard-hitting and poignant 💝💝 I love the idea of unzipping the clouds 🙂

I love the sense of change i read into the last few lines… allows hellos to happen… it feels like the end of a very long lockdown.

A beautiful capture of autumn leaves and the cycle of nature/seasons. I admire the spacing of that one words, death, open, again – so impactful to read.

Wonderful images – like Björn, I see a hopeful shift with ‘unzip the clouds/allow hellos to happen/again.’
