flowers,
petals. your charm.
soft, silky worn
by lilies, wild
daffodils, on your
head they sit and
take tea, Persephone.
do they wilt as your
scented toes step
towards your
beloved’s grave?
because the leaves do.
because the leaves do.

I write because I read. I read because I write.
flowers,

do they wilt as your

Sad, poignant and haunting! The leaves wilt at Persephone’s parting: beautifully put.

So beautiful and poignant indeed. Love how you hint at the six months of spring and the six months of winter. This is very emotional and I especially like the rhythm and flow this piece has, it gives it a certain magic to it that helps bring the point home. Very lovely and visceral work. 😀

Rosema, the word that comes to my mind to describe this poem is – delicate. The flow is so natural from line to line…

A lovely portrayal of Spring ……as Persephone prepares to fall victim to a smooth-talking disgusting old lecher. I picture him as looking somewhat like Harvey Firestein!! lol
