finally, you arrived,
please take a seat.
you want tea, or
cup of coffee, or
perhaps a cooling lime?
you got fresh 30 days
on your spring, pastel
sleeves.
need not to tell me
what you got in store
for me and for the
fellow beings of
this overwhelmed
earth,
i just want to ask,
if i may, you might
have heard your
predecessors hands
are tainted in red—
blood, chaos, anger,
fear, love, yes, there is
love—
but please do not
dip your hands with
them, please be blue
of the promising sky
and the arms of
the accepting sea,
or be yellow of the
sun smiling or
of a tropical
pineapple, both
tangy and sweet,
or be pastel pink
of cherry blossoms—
still a dream for me—
of a cotton candy
reminding us
of innocent days,
happy and free.
well, to cut it short,
you can be all the
colours you want
to be, just that, we
are very tired,
April, can you be
better than
March, February, January?
—
For sure! I’m tired of washed out days!

Hello, there! The beauty of poetry is that the readers become poets. It is free for interpretation. 🙂 It is, however, important to note that I am not from the US. 🙂

2020 started all cockeyed and confusing. Welcoming April in this morning, which is grey and overcast, is a test of faith. I like the reminder:
‘you got fresh 30 days
on your spring, pastel
sleeves’
and the polite requests for happier, innocent colours.

I cannot agree more, Kim. What a whirlwind for the first three months of this new decade.
But there is hope. Thank you!

Oh, that’s fabulous. I think that’s what we’re all asking, but you do it so well. I love the personification of April, the month when spring really shifts into gear. Let’s hope for a bit of normality.

This is a moving poem, sister. The voice is plaintive but straightforward. I think the request for April is reasonable. I hope we get it!
Please stay safe and well.
