bed without bodies
pillows without tresses,
doors only for exit
piano void of music,
new bulb void of light,
lenses with no sight,
heart without art,
lifetime without life,
emp—ty
emp—ty
emp—ty
emp—ty
emp—ty
the song of
me after our we.

No. It’s Christmas season, perhaps and I am far from home for the first time. Making me nostalgic and lethargic. hAHA. And thanks a lot, Kate!

ahhhh! that’s the best part. going outside will bring about too much noise. it is best spent with self or family. ❤

Wow! Wow! Wow! That started hitting so hard right from the first line. Every sentence felt like being hit by shrapnels from a broken frozen heart. And that last line is so so perfectly crafted. Epic! Epic!

So very sad–a definite sort of echoing. I’m happy to see in above comments that this isn’t a true-to-life situation. It felt very personal. Thank you for echoing with me!

So very sad especially when the word “empty” is echoed. Well expressed.

This is a very sad feeling. Loss seems to leave us in that state of emptiness!

Agreed. It can really hollow the heart. Thank you, Roth.

I always thought that an echo is sad… and the of course the myth is there, to only hear yourself is the ultimate state of loneliness

to only hear yourself is the ultimate state of loneliness — so much truth in this. though there is a thin line between loneliness and selfmade solace. 🙂
