cr-cr-cr-crack
one corner after
another,
tip-tip-toe
carefully,
on top of
crumbling
eggshells.
is it, is it
a triumph
to walk his
crushed carpet
of survival?
w-w-why
do we choose
to create home
inside crevices
so fragile?
is it called saving?
or is it suicidal?

Very good question to ask. Life is not meant to live walking on eggshells!

I cannot agree more, Roth. But I also cannot judge. I am quite wanting to understand.

I guess we can only judge for ourselves.

FANTASTIC title. And I love the fragility of that second-to-last stanza.

Appears to be suicidal, though it is imposed by life at times….

Is that meant to be a play on words by using “soles” in lieu of “souls” ? If so, very clever!

I think that living like that has to be a prelude to leaving.

Wow, a poignant piece. This particular line really stood out to me…”is it a triumph to walk his crushed carpet of survival?” We do walk on others’ egg shells, the remnants of their past and pain. Sometimes it’s unavoidable.
