B l o o d y H a n g o v e r

More shots fired,
bang! bang!
Another mug
overflowed with

blood, blood. Blood
from veins of the
innocents. Veins
pulsing, asking,

why oh why,
again? Till when,
oh please, till
when? Who
turned on the

faucet of this
intoxicating hate?
How many
pills of love, should

the orphaned
earth take to end

this bloody hangover?

Author’s Note: The prompt today was about “drinking”. And because I don’t drink (alcoholic drinks, or even wines, never had, never will :D), these lines leaked just like that.

For the lives ended by war, violence, depression, hate, this is my futile attempt to write an elegy for you.

Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. It’s one sad truth we witness every single day.

  1. Rosema, first of all it’s great to see that you’re still here on WP. I just returned this week and was thinking about you just a little while ago. So pleased to see you in my reader.
Second of all, GREAT poem. Brillian job. I’m sensing that part of this at least has to do with even the ex-student that went to school and shot a ton of people in Florida. Am I right?
Blessings to you sweetie. 🙂 ❤

    1. Yaaaaaay! Hello there! Happy to see you again! How have you been??? I just came back to. Around two weeks ago. 🙂 Looking forward to read more from you again!
And yes, this is inspired by that Florida shooting. It’s really heartbreaking. 😦

      Blessings back at ya! 😀

      1. Oh Rosema, I’m so sorry for taking so long to reply. I made my return to blogging at the wrong time. I was preparing and then teaching for an intensive 5-week ESL course. My time was so limited and I just couldn’t dedicate any time to blogging. I’m back now though, so I hope to be more regular now.
        How are you doing?
        🙂 ❤

  2. You leave me in awe at times. You are unselfish. You care about the planet. You care about its people. In an age, when all that people are concerned about is themselves, here is a poet who feels for the entire world and all its people, and wants to inject the world with some love shots. Proud of you. “Who turned on the faucet of this intoxicating hate?” This is such a sooperbly poetic line. God bless the world. God bless you. May hate end soon

    1. Your comment moved me to tears. Thank you so much, Mr. Roy. And indeed. I echo your prayer. Impossible. But hope is all we have. Hope and the power to spread love in ways that we can.
