Not Forgetful

Her eyes on the slow, old tram coming. Her hands inside the bag, checking the cold office keys, the leather notepad, the tattered coin purse, the thin phone, her essentials. Lucky day, no forgotten items today.

Her ride to the office is about to arrive when a familiar face crossed her peripheral view. He has aged, but his bright smiling eyes remained the same. The way he wraps his arms around his woman stayed the same.

Her finger, the throne of their once wedding ring, aches. Sometimes she wishes to be forgetful, but the essential memories are stubborn. They remain.

      2. I will try a different colour Rosema. I have looked at it on my ipad and it is not apparent. Thanks again for the heads up and suggestion 🙂

  1. Aww, memories are hard to forget but they eventually fade in a way that it’s not painful to remember. Or at least remembering them doesn’t hurt as much. On the bright side, your killer side is taking a break 😁😁

  2. Awww, what a beautiful sad story. True that, some memories are just so stubborn, they never seem to completely disappear. I felt for the woman, a job well done Rosema.

  3. some memories are just too painful and difficult to forget. I like how you set up the story and the ending you always get me tearing up at the end, I could feel her sadness, and heavy heart seeing his arm over her shoulder. The familiar gestures that rips the heart apart. You cannot imagine the feelings I had reading this! beautifully written.

  4. Well written and so sad. The reader can feel her anxiety of making sure she has everything and the relief that she does and her day will go well, only to be caught off guard when she gets upset by being reminded of old memories. Hopefully, one day the sight of him, or someone like him will no longer affect her.

  5. This is beautiful. The love still there despite divorce and separation. Lovely descriptions in her work items and the moment in time created as he holds her.
