Do you judge a book by its cover? (Well, honestly, I do. :))
I asked because I am back for the new FlyTip feature hosted by my darling Lonna of FlyLef. The second topic is:
FLYTIP: Cover Design || What are 5-10 of your favorite book covers?
This is a delight because I miss writing about my boooooookish thoughts so this might be the beginning of something awesome! 😀
So here are my fave covers! (I only included the books I have read. :))
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

i do too, chose a book by its cover, and I am always attracted to orange it seems! Lovely books, I have read some and must check out the rest, at present time I am reading more Paulo Coelho books – Brida and Aleph.

She is good too! I have moved on to a new book since we spoke last -Milan Kundera’s – the Unbearable Lightness of Being – recommended by someone – feeling the burden of such heavy words and intense melancholy- have you read him?
LikeLiked by 1 person
oh Maya is epic!!!! 😀 😀 😀 oh i haven’t heard of him until now…

try to read him, though I will say its very heavy. Be ready to be amazed at his metaphors and analogy, like he has a peek into the human psyche. I felt physically drained reading him, but don’t regret it.

oooh. i have to take note of him! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Have you read Mitch Albom?

Mitch Albom is also a favourite and yes I have read most of his books I think….Tuesday , 7 people…but he is a soft mild read compared to Kundera!

yes. he is a tender writer. yet his lines tug the heart. 🙂

I am entirely guilty of judging books by their cover! Or by their blurb, to be honest. But I love love your selection of books, and see a few on my reading list I’d love to pick up! All the Light We Cannot See is one, and The Nightingale is another. Maybe when I finish my current set.

I highly recommend All The Light We Cannot See. It is lengthy but it is so worth it. 🙂 The Nightingale is also good. 🙂 What are you reading now? 🙂

I’ll pick that one up soon! Once my bookstore stocks it, anyway >_> Currently, I’m just about to finish The Night Circus (I know, I know, I’ve been behind the times…), and then I’ll start with The Cuckoo’s Calling and Storm Front from the Dresden Files! A weird mix, but different genres keep me entertained.

I don’t know the three books but The Cuckoo’s Calling is great! I love it! 😀

Ooh, really? 😀 I’ll take your word for it! I was curious about Rowling taking on something that wasn’t Harry Potter, so I got it!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes! And to confess, I read The Cuckoo before I read Harry Potter. (facepalm) haha

Haha, no worries! I still have friends my age who haven’t read Harry Potter, but have read A Casual Vacancy. I haven’t read that one either, but maybe one day I’ll get to it.

I read The Casual Vacancy and it is good too. Though I like The Cuckoo series more. 😀

I shall wait to read it with bated breath! But like I said… so much backlog. I don’t think we’ll ever be done reading so many books!

bated breath sounds so poetic! 😀 😀 😀 and i cannot agree more. cliche as it may sound, so many books so little time. ;D

I don’t judge as such but yes, I do pick up books simply because it looked pretty or cute or funny etc. 😁

How is it that I haven’t read any of these books?! My only saving grace is that I have read a different book by several of these authors. I guess we can still be friends. Hehehe. I love the first cover — Between Shades of Grey — because the juxtaposition of the barbed wire and the delicate young plant is so powerful. Those things that survive in the harshest of conditions are rare and magical. Until the next post…

Yes! that’s exactly why i love the first book cover. it is powerful. and read the book too. the content perfectly complements the cover. 🙂 🙂 🙂

huh, these are very interesting covers. It’s cool to see what cover designs other people like especially since I have begun designing my own!

YEA! i agree with you! and until now the cover of my book remains the stumbling block of my publishing dreams haha

What do you want on the cover?

i want it to be minimalist as possible. I have a draft already but i cannot move forward. haha.
