Here We Come

Tense and stiff bodies
Heartbeats racing frantically
Choking in air begging for release
As if screaming can give ease

To souls being pulled
Up, up, up
Helplessly hanging
High, high, high

Then came the
sudden stop.
Oh, we reached
the utmost top.

*Ding*

The rolling began.
Gravity, here we come.

P.S. I am too scaredy cat to try roller coaster but it fascinates me to watch the one in Enchanted Kingdom which starts with the pulling of the passengers to the top, like ever slowly. Then after it reached the top, you will hear a *ding* and then the hellish rolling begins. 😀

  1. Have been on one roller coaster, and that’s one too many, for me, thank you, very much. Only did it, because I was, with family, at the time.

  2. oh you do write quite the heart stopping ride Rosie dear! Loved the build up to the ding! and then the descent! I can take the going up but the coming down now that really scares me, lovely lovely words my dear!

  3. DING! Such a little word that starts it all in a cascading frenetic downward plunge! I think the most telling word is in your explanation: “hellish.” 🙂 So glad you posted for the prompt…and I love how the image rolls in your blog! Especially effective for this post!

  4. This poem gave me that feeling in the stomach Rosema. I hate the things and alway say to my daughter “if I was meant to fly I would have been a bat.” (she loves them). Great poem 🙂

  5. My children used to tell me that I was supposed to scream on the ride to make it more enjoyable and we would sync the screaming at appropriate moments like when the speed increased. Generally I prefer being upside down and going fast than Ferris wheel slow but rocking way up high.

  6. Ohhhhh, I used to love the roller coaster and other rides when I was younger. I can’t stomach them anymore though. Hahaha 😂
By the way I just posted my first quadrille yesterday. 😘
Hop you’re having a great day.

  7. Only once did I ride a roller coaster. When it started the “hellish” downward race, my head snapped back and I had a stiff neck for days afterward! I’ve never felt the need to ride one again. You are not alone!

  8. It sounds like your speaker doesn’t like going up high in very tall elevators. It can be a bit dizzying if they’re glass. But thank goodness it’s only an elevator and you can get out. At first I read and I thought oh she’s sky diving. Lol. Beautiful 🙂
