Almost (Inspired by Almost Lovers by A Fine Frenzy)
For a scintilla of a moment
we shared a special kind of bond.
Like blooming flowers in spring,
we cradled our blossoming hearts.
Then winter came without the autumn.
It appeared we are almost but not quite.
But then I think it’s best to forget
a story filled with maybe and might.

Ooohhhhh ..so painful..

This is very nice, Rosema. I agree with your last lines. A life filled with maybes and mights is just too hard to process. It is hard to live in limbo.
Have a blessed day!

this is a beautiful poem. It has an ethereal quality about it perfect for the theme of ‘almost’. I love that word scintilla since I first encountered it in a book.

You raise up for our awareness an emotional, potential pitfall. To dwell on might and maybe. There is no resolution to that, since the conditional is not the real. Strong message that serves, sister!
