Twirling, twirling,
up and then down.
Hold your faith oh-so-tight.
Swirling, swirling,
through high’s and lows.
Life’s series of wrongs, rights.
Swerving, swerving,
which road you’ll take.
Choose between left or right.
Planning, dreaming,
future’s waiting.
Face it with valor, might.

Sweetbriar is a stanzaic invented form similar to the Minuette. It uses only 1 rhyme and was created by Viola Berg.
The Sweetbriar is:
- stanzaic, written in 2 sixains.
- syllabic, 4-4-6-4-4-6 syllables per line.
- rhymed, rhyme scheme xxaxxa xxaxxa.
Oh my, Rosey–this is Wonderful, first word to last–and I love the swirling!

Even though there’s lots of moving here–swirling, in fact–it seems as if there’s conviction, too. Maybe because “valor, might” are the last words. They bravely pin the rest.
I hope you have a great week, sister!

This is great. Such energy and it brings back happy memories for me, especially along with the photo of the girl in the red dress. When I was a little girl in elementary school, I had a long, red granny dress. During music class, we’d dance to a song called Shoo, Fly, Don’t Bother Me. I would spin round and round during that song, and my dress would twirl out wide around me. It was great fun. 🙂
Have a blessed day!
