Ride: Part 1

28-30

This is the first part of a three-part series.

Buses are not just full, they are jam-packed during Mondays.

I have accepted wholeheartedly that I’ll be standing for almost two hours when I took the bus to get to work. Trying as hard as I can, I eagerly squeezed in myself in the already filled bus.

I heaved a sigh of relief when I finally stood in my little corner.

It was when a man seated in my front left stood. I am too amazed to react because hey, gentlemen are now as rare as a pink diamond!

He touched my arm softly to get my attention.

“Oh,” I quietly said as I look at him. (He’s surely flashing his pearly whites.)

I took his former seat, slowly.

When I looked up, it appears he’s looking at me too.

He smiled.

I smiled back.

“Thank you,” I said softly.

And that’s the start of our story.

  1. The tension here is so great, I love the detailed description of such a small act, it’s so powerful. I’m just starting up a new writing blog myself if you wouldn’t mind giving it a look 🙂

  2. I enjoyed this story but got a little bit confused because you kept changing tenses!! It might work a bit better to stick with past tense rather than flicking between past and present a bit 🙂 Otherwise, good work!

      1. Haha tenses are a tough gig! Not a problem at all – it’s always hard to comment and hope that the person won’t be offended, so I’m really relieved you took it the way I intended it (positively!). Good job again 🙂

    1. Hi Ms. Anna! I am not offended, I am actually honored that a writer like you (i visited your own page :D) took some of her precious time to read and comment in this piece. Aside from that, I really prefer honesty instead of flattery. I appreciate readers who point out my mistake because i get better through those kind of comments. Thank you again! 🙂
