Seasons’ Winds

Almost four months from now, I’ll be turning 25. It recently dawned on me, oh, what have I done with my life? I’ve studied hard and earned honors, but my ultimate dream still feels too far. I’m working hard but monetary state remains harsh.Yet looking back, I know my family and I are already far from where we’ve been. I believe the coming years hold a promising future that’s still unseen.

There’s a valiant tree
undressing with seasons’ winds.
Change doesn’t mean death.

In response to dVerse‘s Haibun Monday:Winds of Change by Toni of kanzensakura who also wrote about change here!

Thank you for the lovely haibun prompts, Toni! I maybe a newbie in dVerse but I really admire your warmth as a person and your talent as a poetess. I wish you a lovely hiatus.

Please write for me a one paragraph haibun about change. End it with a nature-based haiku.

  1. Oh no Rosema, I turned 54 last month so you have only 29 years of torment to catch up. If I can offer one reflective piece of advice. Embrace each day and write and love until it hurts. A brilliant Haiku by the way 🙂

  2. Inspirational haiku my dear 🙂

As for being a little frustrated with where you are at life, I understand! But use that frustration to work even harder and don’t forget to take care of yourself and be proud of your journey. You are your only obstacle, my friend!

  3. I’m happy you can look back, sister, to see how far you’ve traveled. I pray your life continues to be forward-moving in this way. You’re right about the seasons. Falling leaves don’t indicate death. It seems to me that all the seasons are alive. Each season in its own fashion. Thanks for your good, open sharing. Wonderful in any season.

    1. “Each season in its own fashion.” Cannot agree more, brother! And yes. I think in life we should always look back so we will always be grateful that even when we’re not in our “promise land” yet, we’re still far from where we have started. 🙂

    1. Aww. Thank you very much, Toni! Thank you for the Haibun Mondays. You taught me that haibun are non-fiction (I’ve written several before without knowing it! HAHA). I really appreciate your prompts because the made me reflect. I wish you all the best. ❤

  4. 25 was also a tough year for me, am 48 now and doing fine. Time moves fast! Just keep the faith, be ready to change with the wind…For everything can change in a day, a minute, an hour. Keep your heart open to miracles. Your lovely haiku says it all!💗

  5. You will do fine and your love of writing is a great companion to take along with you on your journey. Life has so many possibilities and there are many of us who don’t realize that until it’s too late to explore them. This is a very significant line in your haiku…”Change doesn’t mean death”. Enjoy every moment of this life, young lady! 🙂

  6. I’m going to be 73 soon and the question you ask will continue to haunt you throughout life if you want to grow wise. It helps you refocus your goals. Though I would love to be your age again, I don’t want to let go of what I’ve learned along the way. Such is life…and it does fly by. Inside, I’m still 25, I hope.
