They say I’m fat,
oh, I don’t do weight’s math.
Yes, I don’t care!
They say my nose’s flat,
oh, and I have bulky butt!
Hell, I don’t care!
They say my face’s ugly,
oh, yes I’m not pretty.
Hell, I don’t care!
Reading these words,
of fake and fallacy,
I cried.
I care.

Oh my goodness, sister. Makes me want to grab the big pot and chase them down! You are so much more beautiful than they can perceive–I pity them.

Why are people so mean and evil? I know God’s explanation, but I’ll never be able to wrap my head around the necessity to “just be mean”!!

i think they see it harmless. like teasing that you are fat is harmless. they’ve never felt it maybe that’s why they think it’s not mean. 🙂

Teasing is rarely harmless, from my experience–usually it’s very insensitive, at the least.

Physical appearance shouldn’t matter much. But for some it sure does, alas!

Haha. Those were the good old day, Mel. 🙂 Or maybe just last year when I am still hanging our with those ‘friends’ who are far richer than me and who ‘love’ to mentioned that my calories are unstoppable.
But now, I am fine. 😉

A sad but true reality of many. We can onl;y control our perception of ourselves. Forget about the opinions of others..
Good write.

No matter how many times we say that we don’t care, some words really do hit us the hardest. It’s saddening how some people can be so cruel. 😔

Yes. Yes. They say words as if words cannot kill.
Sigh.

Oh nooooo this just broke my heart a little. My dear and beautiful Rosema, society and others will always hate those who are not like them, those who shine brighter, and those whose souls are full of gold ❤ I hope you never let these words diminish your brightness or tarnish your gold.

awww. such a lovely lovely lovely comment, my dear Jade! ❤ Thank you! This was written maybe a year ago when I was trying to embrace how my 'friends' who are richer than me and have been in love of mentioning my flaws always. But then I somehow realized I don't need such persons in my life. I am fine now. 😉 Better than ever. 😉 (still with those fat flabs though. HAHA)

A great emotive poem Rosema and I am sorry you had to go through the experience. Sometimes we experience these things and it provides a hidden strength we never knew existed.

Who says these things. Words can be brutal and some people can unfortunately be stupid! Strong poem.

An effectively chosen, one-word title. A well-crafted ode to pebble concerns that others make boulders of. Unfortunately, we hold the pebbles, which should be only ours to deal with as well as those who positively care about us. A moving account of the cause and effect of cruelty. Skillful and insightful work, precious sister!
