Former Senator Miriam Santiago
is a fierce brain and funny wit combo.
She said she eats death threats for breakfast,
and announced her cancer with humor and class.

Note: Miriam Palma Defensor Santiago is a Filipino politician, notable for having served in all three branches of the Philippine government – judicial, executive, and legislative. She is a Laureate, Magsaysay Awardee (Asian Nobel Prize) for government service. Cited for “bold and moral leadership in cleaning up a graft-ridden government agency.” Named one of The 100 Most Powerful Women in the World by Australian magazine. Listed in the United Nations Roster of Eminent and Qualified Experts for international law.
She has published two best-selling witty and intelligent books: Stupid is Forever and Stupid is Forevermore.
She ran for presidency in this year’s election. I voted for her. She lost. But my vote is worth it. ❤
In response to dVerse‘s Form For All; the Clerihew by Bodhirose who also wrote her own piece here.
Today we’re going to play with humor and couplets and the form I’m presenting is called a Clerihew. A Clerihew is a comic verse on biographical topics consisting of two couplets and a specific rhyming scheme of aabb that was invented by Edmund Clerihew Bentley (1875-1956) at the age of 16.
I did not know…thanks for the introduction to her!

Sayang naman. Though until now, nagtataka ako bakit si BM ang running mate niya.

Just to clarify, sayang naman, she did not stand a chance against the current president. Siguro, her illness made people shy away somehow. She is, of course, the much better choice.

Given the current clime, I’m sorry she’s not serving as your president. Given any clime, I’m sorry she’s not serving. I’m sorry she has cancer. I’m happy she makes her life suffuse with humor. I’m happy that you voted for her. Your vote certainly counts, sister!
