First Fly

2

“That’s your daddy, little man!”

My mom-heart swells when the eyes of my four-year old sparked in delight as he watched his father fly the red helicopter for the first time. From playing toy planes, now my beloved husband is flying his real one.

“Let’s go, Momma! Come on!!!” he giddily say as he pulled me towards our condo’s door where we gaze at the lovely, exciting scene.

“Not yet love, it’s not safe—.”

A loud ear-shattering blast. We looked up.

My son’s delighted eyes turned to widely horrified.

“Moooooom!!”

“No. No. It’s not your daddy. It cannot. I cannot be.”

  1. Uh-uh… I think I should have stalked starting from your previous posts dearie, not this one. Haha. I wonder how many deaths did I miss..? XD

Poor boy… BUT I’d like to think that the pilot managed to eject right before the explosion. *fingers crossed*

P.S. You may want to adjust some tenses in your 2nd and 3rd para, dearie. Other than that, this is great! *kisses*

  2. Oh nooo are we back to killing off characters?! And I was just getting cozy with all the romance on your blog lately, Rosema LOL. It does say something about your talent when you can write both sweet romance and morbid deaths equally well ❤

  3. How dramatic and sad! For a moment, I thought the little boy was on the helicopter. He wasn’t, so that’s something. With words in parameters–you don’t use many, after all–you accomplish so much, sister.

I’ve been off the mark for a few days due to finishing my summer term of teaching. It’s Saturday around 4:15 in the afternoon, and I’m pretty much done. Unfortunately, the word is out (because it’s true) that my school might be closing for good.

I heard on the news that there was an explosion in the Philippines, and the president is blaming it on terrorists. And turning the military out to do whatever he thinks they’re going to do. Though I also heard that the military can’t acknowledge that the bombing was connected to certain terrorists.

Sister, I hope you are safe. As always, you and yours are in my prayers.

    1. Oh brother. Sorry to hear about your school. 😦 I would like to ask why but it may be futile as I think the decision is final. What will be your next step then brother? I’ll pray for God’s knowledge and provision for you.

And yes, brother. 14 lives turned into part of terrorism’s statistics. Too bad. Too sad. It happened in Davao, the city where our current President was from. We’re significantly far but still the whole country is mourning and I think shaken. I wonder where is love amid this divide brother. Wondering and wondering. *sigh*
      Thank you for the prayers.

      1. Sister, thank you so much for letting me know what’s been happening in your land. I appreciate the details, tragic as they are.

My school has been accused by the government of hoarding millions of dollars meant for student financial aid. Most of the campuses, such as my school, are not part of this, though the entire network is threatened with closure. I’m looking for new work in case we all get the word. Which does seem likely. The money the school should have is not there. Is it spent? Is it off-shore? At the moment (and until I suffer from not having a job), I’m more concerned about the students. They deserve to have a good experience in training for their respective work disciplines.

Thanks for your concern. I really appreciate that.

      2. Oh dear. I am so sorry to hear that. I’ll pray that you will land a job soon but most of all I’ll pray for the students who you are concerned about. You really have a heart of a mentor. 🙂 ❤
You're welcome, brother! Prayers for you, the school and the students.
