I have always been the good girl of the family.

With an alcoholic brother, weed-addicted older sister and party-goer baby sister, mom and dad almost always say I am their hope, their only hope.

I think I am until I saw you, talked to you, dated you, fallen for you.

  9. Did Melinda make this word up? Kidding! I know it’s real! Quite a desperate family in which parents tell one child that she is their hope. I could see it happening, though. Maybe, sister, she will straighten out this new man, too!

        BTW, brother I know you are a professor (i hope i remember it right). I have a grammar questions. 😀 I am wondering if I can use FOR GRANTED, even without the word TAKEN. Or it should always be TAKEN FOR GRANTED? Thank you! 😀

      3. Good question, sister. “Taken for granted” is well-known by readers. But there’s no reason why “for granted” couldn’t go with other words. No grammatical reason.

        BTW from me. I like your use of the word (and your meaning in) “tandem.”
