For me writing is like breathing with words.
But honestly,
I am afraid of writing.
Afraid that no one will pay attention.
Afraid that no one will read the characters I hone.
Afraid that it will not be worthwhile.
Afraid that feedbacks will be as bitter as bile.
Afraid that efforts will just be put to waste.
Afraid that my words will be just lost in haze.
Because I know the literary world is already filled
with works of the greatest and the skilled.
Because there might be no space left in this field,
for me and the inks that I have spilled.
But then I saw the moon who never feared the coming sun,
even if its rise will end its own night’s fun.
And then there is summer who blissfully waits for fall,
even if it will snatch her beauty, her all.
Like lungs recognizing oxygen’s worth,
it’s time to exhale the fears of my agonized self,
and write (my book) for no one but myself,
because for me, writing is like breathing with words.

In response to dVerse‘s Poetics: What are You Afraid Of by Mish of mishunderstood.
As our fears range from large scale and ominous to the simple worries of everyday life, they all have an effect on our decisions, our happiness and well being. One way to validate them is to write about them. So for today’s Poetics, I am asking you to open up and share your fear(s) with us in a poem.
Read Mish’s own poem about fear titled Departure. 🙂
Beautifully versed lines. Keep writing 🙂

Never met your fears so you. I was scared to death and still am. But I write for me and people seem to gravitate towards that. From what I’ve already seen from you, you have the skills to succeed. 💕

” But I write for me and people seem to gravitate towards that.” These are wise words, love. Thank you and I believe it is true. I have read only your chapbook (yet) and the best thing about it is your honesty and rawness. No pretensions, no fallacy. And I am surely gravitated by it closer to you and your works. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words, too!

Open and honest work, sister. By the time I read all the fears, I feel them, too. Then I am moved in a better way when the poem turns: “But then I saw the moon who never feared the coming sun, . . .” Nature teaches us. And our own creating nature is affirmed beyond our fears. Revelatory and inspiring verse!

Thank you, brother! I stumbled upon this prompt when work is a bit silence and when I started writing it just flows. I have silenced this fear and this poem let it all out. It is also a revelation for me. 🙂
Thank you, brother!

Aww. Thank you for the enthusiastic comment, Mandi! 🙂 The book… might probably be a poetry book. I’m still figuring out if it will be a compilation or a new one but it will surely be a poetry book. 🙂
You have published one of yours already? (Sorry dear I am a bit forgetful so I have to ask that to you. <3)
LikeLiked by 1 person
No worries. I forget too. I finished a first draft on Word Press. Now I’m on Wattpad (an application) working on the second draft and trying to get more opinions from other people. So, I gave seven chapters in draft two complete and will be working on eight and nine tomorrow.
Today I spent a great deal of time making sure the book was plotted out and that the events in the book took place in the right sequence so the story didn’t stall too much. I printed the whole thing out and moved events and chapters around. It’s paranormal romance. At @mandibelle16 on Wattpad if you have the free app.
After second draft, editor will be needed I believe.
Best of luck with your poetry book. I do remember reading about it I your interview responses 🙂

Thank you for sharing, Mandi! I am actually torn if I will try Wattpad or if I will self-publish. I am reading more about Wattpad and it seems to me like I’ll have another blog when I do that. The difference is that I will make a book and not just posts.
I think it will demand more time and I am still pondering things through. 🙂
Thank you for sharing that with me! Good luck to you, too! ❤ ❤ ❤
