Word-High July:Pahimakas

Pahimakas

The day you said the last goodbye
felt like the end of entire I.

The curse of love not returned,
dawned on me like waves unnerved.

Years after you said your last words,
I’m still unsure if I regret,

that I pulled the trigger
after you confessed you love her.

  1. Hello Sweetie, I’m missed ya! I came back to this potent poem. Ahhh…lyrical and lovely, with a tinge of danger. Love it!!

      1. It’s true! Sometimes we associate words–which may be quite common–with a person who uses them in a special way, or just because the person is special to us ❤ (There can be negative associations too–but not in this case!)

  2. The image of the pistol on the ground is telling. It scares me just thinking of such a thing happening. I am in love with the granddaughter of a woman who hunted one man and years later shot another. I have no doubt my child bride would not miss.

  3. A violent ending but perhaps, the central figure felt it was just for the lover her man hid from her, to end up dead. Or perhaps, she didn’t think, in anger she just shot her gun?
