Siping
I have never been excited
to see the moon defeat the sun,
to feel the bed against my warmth,
until the day we shared my surname.

Commitment. I see that as the theme here. (I could be wrong.) Were that commitment felt with everyone as wonderfully as this. Teach it, sister!

This is very nice, Rosema. This is probably a silly question, but I want to understand it better. In your country, do the males take the surname of the females?
I enjoy reading your poetry. Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

Thank you very much, Suz! 😀 Not silly, i understand. I don’t name my characters, thus readers mostly look at it in a “woman’s” eyes. 🙂 But this poem is actually “written” by a man. 😉 Females adopt their husbands name here in my country. 😉
You have a great week, my friend! ❤

You’re welcome, Rosema. 🙂
That is an interesting twist of things writing it from the man’s point of view.
It works that way here, too. The females take the husband’s name.
I hope that you have a great week, too, my friend. 🙂

Thank you, Suz! 🙂 I heard some women now has the right to not to take their husbands’ surnames. Modern times, i think.
🙂 Thank you, my friend!

You’re welcome, Rosema. 😛 It is that way here, too. They have choices. That is too modern for me. I was very happy to take David’s name. 🙂
Have a beautiful day!

Yeah. A bit modern. And it somehow contrasts the bible words which said wives must submit to their husbands.

I tend to agree. We also need to remember that the Bible tells us to submit to each other. It isn’t one sided. The man is the lead, but we each have our part. We’re a team, each couple, each working for the good of the other. The two become one and I think that is a wonderful set up. 🙂

[…] Eric and I snuggled on our blanket because it was a little chilly, it being the end of September in Upstate New York. Slowly but surely, we saw the eclipse happen and it started turning red. We tried to take pictures with out phones, but obviously it was so far of a distance that you couldn’t really tell what it was supposed to be. […]
