No one wanted to go down, so I volunteered. I’ve been here for three days only but I now know why my friends begged me to think twice. I have helped random people thrice. I never got a “thank you” even once.
I helped an old man cross the street, he stared at my face and gave a mischievous grin before he left. I helped a mother pick her baby’s fallen rattle. She hurriedly grabbed it and whispered with disgust, “snatcher”. My last try was with a teenage boy whose lifting a humongous box. He just laughed and let me lift it on my own.
With three failed tries, I am now stoned. Broken and armless. Yet my heart’s in full bliss. I’ve fallen from heaven to earth to show humans little kindness. Three have showed ungratefulness.
But they are just a small percent of these beings I still love and believed in, and I’m not giving up on them.

NOTE: My mind’s churning something gruesome and dark when I saw this photo but I’ve posted a lot of sad pieces recently so… I showed this photo to my Dearest and asked what could be written out of an armless statue. So.. voila! 😀

Kudos for coming up with a positive story on that picture-prompt, and it is beautifully written.

Interesting and strangely calming story – nice write! But can you also write a gruesome story with that image? – you’ve aroused my curiosity. And yeah gruesome was the first thing I thought when I saw that picture. Well done on turning that around though.

thank you dear! I tried so hard to do away with something grim (because the death toll is rising! HAHA). Glad it still worked. 😉

Oh gosh this is wonderful! Love the element of fantasy (I’m interpreting the main character as an angel) and the element of hope. And the lasting message is powerful indeed. Kindness goes a long way!

An angel that dropped from heaven to show people kindness and all they did was show her ingratitude. That’s so sad but also not hard to believe in this day and age. I like the positivity at the end that says she is not giving up on humans. Wonderful story, Rosey! Just wanted to remind you to link your story to the InLinkz story board so more people can read your story. Let me know if you are having problems with InLinkz.

I’m planning to host a month-long prompt with Maria… and we’re thinking of using inlinkz.

Yes, you have to pay to use InLinkz. You can get it for 6 months or for 1 year but I don’t know about only one month.

This is so encouraging. Yes, there are going to be people who give a damn about others but there are also going to be people who look for the goodness in your soul. The world is made up of good things and bad 🙂

Well, I don’t know–this is so sad, Rosema! I guess I hate to see good wasted. Although the Giving Tree is happy. And I guess this statue is as well. Good is never wasted. I think that’s the message I have to struggle with. Maybe it’s close to home. Which is the mark of a great story–when it resonates!

Oh wow! This is beautiful Rosema and so inspiring. I love it. ❤ Yes, although at times mankind can be a bit “arggghhHH!”, we should never give up on each other. That there is still goodness left in each of us.
