Is it meant to be sad? What I draw from it is that there is nowhere to go, everything is here. I don’t know what do you mean when you say you are my heart’s compass. Who is you? Is that someone you love or is that god.
But I guess we can have different interpretations…right?

The speaker wants to go somewhere, but “the compass” took her to now place, thus they are still on square one. The picture gives a sense of lost and forlorn.
