Moon’s Song: A Deten*
Evening
is the best part
of a long tiring day,
tucked in soft bed, cuddling, snuggling,
heart’s half.
Moon beams,
smiling, gleaning,
watching married soul’s pray
no noise can bother, even scream,
nothing.
Lost ‘tween
twinkling bright stars
and dark night’s peaceful bay,
erasing deep yesterday scars,
new day.

*The Deten has a unique rhyme scheme. It was created by Johnn Schroeder and can be found at Poetry Base.
The Deten is:
- a 15 line poem made up of 3 cinquains.
- meter at the discretion of the poet. Iambic pentameter is suggested, but tetrameter or sprung rhythm would also work. It might interesting to use the Crapsey Cinquain syllabic frame 2-4-6-8-2.
- rhymed abcab decde fgcfg.
Another wonderful poem, Rose.. so romantic.

A poem that is both restful and refreshing. A good end to a tiring day. And here’s the promise:
erasing deep yesterday scars,
new day.
Sleep will bring healing into a new day. Hope both night and day are good for you, Rosema!

I agree, evening is often the best part of day, to just relax. The line about evening removing “yesterday’s scars” got me. If something very terrible has occurred in our day, something that wounds us, leaving a mark, the night is especially freeing, hopefully, healing.

This is a gorgeous poem, Rosey–and an interesting form (maybe I’ll try it sometime). I especially love that the moon watches “married souls pray”–so so so Beautiful!

Of course I love this !!! A promise of restoration and “charging” the soul. And don’t think that I missed the perfectly use of opposites. The deep scars being errased was brilliant too.
