Long Distance

Long Distance: A Shadorma*
(for my Queen of Shadorma, my long-distance sister Stella)

We’re thousand
miles apart yet our
hearts embrace,
souls unite,
daring distance’s dark demands,
far-friendship survives.

The Shadorma* is a simple syllabic verse form created by James Neill Northe that is most effective when written using strong words or phrases.
The Shadorma is:

  • a hexastich, a poem in 6 lines although you certainly could choose to write any number of sixains in this syllabic pattern.
  • syllabic, 3-5-3-3-7-5 syllables per line.
  • unrhymed.

      1. I want to print it out and put it on my refrigerator so I can look at it “many” times a day, hahaha!! And of course I’ll probably brag to my cousin, too… 🙂

  2. Beautiful poem. As always Rosema, you say so much in so few words. I really like that about your poems. It’s an awesome talent. I read another poem I think from Manan, which was the same form so now, I’m going to have to try the form for myself 🙂

      2. Thank you Rosema. You are so sweet. I’m hoping so, a little each week is healthy 🙂 You are beautiful as well and I think more so because you don’t use all the products I use 🙂

      3. Oh I was actually planning to ask you how to use that eyeliner! HAHA
I am not good in makeup not because I am not fond of it but because I am too lazy and also my budget is limited. haha 😀

      4. Oh well. I like liquid eyeliner pens with a felt tip like point. If you ever can afford, Maybelline I know has some that are a good price. You start at the middle of your eye, pushing against you lash line and draw the line along your lash until you get to corner of your eye and then give it a little flick. Then go back to the middle of your eye and do your inner lash line. It takes practice and to be truthful, some days are better then others 🙂

      5. Haha. Yeah I figured them out. The felt tip liners make it much easier then in the past. When you have $ to spend on that kind of thing, I’m sure you’ll be able to do it 🙂 💗
