Dear Distance*
A free verse collaboration with my poetry Queen and my dear soul-sister Nandita of Manan Unleashed.
*Does distance destroy or nurture love?
This poem is inspired by two special people I truly adore, as I am witnessing how their love traverse spaces and time zones.
Thank you Nandita for sharing your eloquent pen with me. ❤ It is both a delight and an honour.
Hearing you is
a lover’s dread.
You’re a harbinger
of love story’s death.
Yet, I must hear you
Do I have a choice?
These spaces in between…
I live to hear that voice.
You snatch the warmth
of physical embrace.
You test trust once
thought can’t be fazed.
I have ‘those’ words
plenty of love laced.
Trust is thick when
Souls have long embraced.
Though some prevails,
most really don’t.
I wish mine will,
please don’t say it won’t.
Love conquers all
By spaces, unfazed
Dear Distance
You are just a phase.

Your poetry queen and soul sister is a fan of her dear Princess. What could be more beautiful than love across borders. As you see it 🙂 Thank you for your love. It truly warms my heart and brightens my days despite the ‘Dear Distance’ 😉

I loved the poem in its entirety but this says so much:
You snatch the warmth
of physical embrace.
You test trust once
thought can’t be fazed.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful 🙂

Your words never fail to make my heart dance, NJ! 🙂 Thank you very much! 🙂
As to that stanza…those are my fears, my inhibitions against long distance relationship. 🙂

Lovely collaberation. Although, your main character seems caught in love and not wanting to hear her lover’s voice, in the end she hears it because she loves to and their love conquers. Great write!

Thank you dear Mandi! The entire poem is like a letter to Distance. It is personified. 🙂 Thanks again! ❤

excellent ladies! “Dear Distance you are just a phase” I love you have personified distance and then given it the boot, so that the relationship no longer includes it.

Thank you, Mel! ❤ Yes… it's an idea I proposed to Manan and she surely aced it! My original poem ended with hope but now it ended with “Dear Distance you are just a phase” by Manan and it sounds really victorious! ❤
