In response to Napowrimo Day 10.
Today’s prompt comes to us from Lillian Hallberg. She challenges us to write a “book spine” poem. This involves taking a look at your bookshelves, and writing down titles in order (or rearranging the titles) to create a poem.
—
It’s a kind of poetry that you don’t really write from scratch – instead, you “find” it by arranging book titles to make a poem. This type of poem can be serious or funny, just like in regular poetry.
Some fun images of book spine poems can be found here.
thank you so much for sharing

Adore this! I will be giving this a go. (I also looooooove the image you chose for this post; where do you find them!?)
Have you ever tried blackout poetry? It’s another kind of “found” poetry, and is so much fun 🤗

Hi Wendleberry! 😀 😀 😀 Please feel free to tag me once you did yours! 😀
The image is from unsplash.com. There are a lot of great images there! 😀
And.. i haven’t tried it yet. May you let me know how to do it? 😀

Blackout poetry is where you take a page of text (from an old book, magazine, newspaper, etc) and block out words, to leave visible the words you want to create the poem. Here is a basic example. It can also be more like art (like this) or very simple (like this).

Makes sense to me, Rosema. A journey of perception and feeling. And a skillful selection and arrangement of titles. I hope it makes sense–this is the one that first got me to try!
