Greed
Money stacks tower,
casting shadows that lengthen–
extend my power.
Will you be happy,
to sleep in bed of millions,
locked up, all alone?

Great Senryu! It made me think of a man with lots and lots of money sleeping on it as his bed with no friends or a wife.

Wow, “locked up, all alone?” I guess one has to stay locked up to keep all the money safe. Though not much of a life. Concise verse with impact–another great collaboration!

Wonderful collaboration! Many are content to sleep alone with their money but as the saying goes ” You can’t take it with you when you go.”

That is true, Mandi! We are all born bare, and we will all die bare and bones.

I used to think money is an evil thing but I heard from a speech once (I forgot who it was :() that it is actually our choices that makes money a thing of evil. If we let either having money (or the lack of it) change our lives or who we really are. Reflective poem, Rosema. 🙂

Yes! That is so true. Some say money is the root of evil but it is not what the bible said. It is ‘love of money is the root of evil’.
Thank you dear Maria!
