“No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.” ― Robert Frost
I am admittedly
a dark-writer.
Scribbler of
tragic incidents,
composer of
painful heartaches,
killer of
several lives.
It is then
I realized,
that the books
I loved,
are those which
make me cry,
and those
which dried up
my heart and eyes.

I have read 5 books from your list 🙂 Always exciting to find another book blogger with sort of similar book interests. Lovely Bones, Kite Runner, Message in a Bottle, Me Before You and The Book Thief are some of my favourite book. I read four of them this year.
I have Jodi and Sparks on my list too.

It’s an old one, but I did sob through multiple readings when I was a young teen: “When the Legends Die”, by Hal Borland. I recommend it highly. You have a great list!!

Katherine Paterson writes for children and young adults. Her stories are often moving. A Bridge to Terebithia and Jacob I Have Lord might have brought me to tears on first reading. That was a while ago, and I’ve used these in class and dealt with the responses of learners. Where the Red Fern Grows is also sad, as is Shiloh. (These are not by Paterson.) Warning–don’t read if sadness is not desired. All have wise resolutions, though.
