How beautiful.
Gently rushing,
lightly kissing
chunks of boulders you passed.
How calm.
Silently whispering,
softly creating
ripples and plopping sounds.
If you stayed that beautiful that night, my family and I would not be homeless. If your shy waters remained calmed and your current remained consistent, undisturbed, our community wont be in this stinky evacuation center.
Should I blame you or should I blame that storm for destroying the place we call home?
Should I blame your powerful flow or should I blame typhoon’s strong blows for turning our lively neighbourhood into rubble of woods and stones?
Tell me.

No need to apologize, Rosema. Sometimes it is easy to become confused, especially when we are doing so many things at one while trying to navigate the stresses of day to day life 🙂

OH thank you sooo much for understanding my dear friend. -_-

Interesting question and POV in wondering whether to blame the water or the typhoon. Lovely poem in the beginning. At the end, the girl seems sad and confused. Realistic view I think, even if you are coming from a poetic perspective.

Thank you, Mandi! My country has been victim of deadly floods already and it has been a regular oocurrence every year. That is why this felt so real. 🙂

Beautiful and sad poetry and prose, Rosema! I remember Haiyaan. Wept for the people of your country. I raised money for it with my Green (Environmental) Team at the school where I taught.

Oh wow! Thank you so much for such a generous act, Vijaya. That is somehow the inspiration of this piece. Flood, the killing floods have been a regular occurence in my country. And that Haiyan is just the worst.

It’s hard to blame a typhoon or a river, and yet, I can imagine the pain and anger the people might have had towards both.

Yes. That is true. They have no one to blame, or maybe they can blame God who created both the stream and the storm.
Thank you for reading, Vijaya!

Strange, these didn’t show up on my window; I came to your page, and saw these responses from you! WP is acting weird, these days.
In any case, you’re most welcome, Rosema!

That is true. I also missed a lot of comments and even those I replied on never showed up. I believe WordPress is experiencing some errors. -_- Or maybe I am too noisy? 😀 Haha!
Thank you, Vijaya! 🙂
