Remember

Finally, my dear, we are able to step our feet in this old, culture-rich, beautiful country.

It took as so many years to get here, a lot of low-paying sideline jobs, a lot of tiring graveyard shifts, a lot of painful tears and stinky sweat, just to fulfill our European-dream.

Remember my love, that today is the beginning of a life that we dreamed of building together. In this gorgeous city will rise our beautiful home that will be filled with love, between us and our six children. (Okay, six is too many but I want six!) 🙂

Remember my love, that I love you before we have this city, I love you as we first smell the autumn wind of this country, and I will love you until our last breathing day here as well.

Brushing off my tears, I crumpled the letter that reminds me…

…of his long-forgotten promises.

  1. The turn is bitter with regret, but the abrupt change in direction makes the narrative all the more impressive. Who knows why the other is not there? Well, we can guess. Whatever it is, it is felt as abandonment. You take your readers through much in a brief piece.

  2. Hmm… from your story, I can tell that Valentine’s Day is indeed over! 😀 The old must leave for the new to come. She has brighter future ahead, and better man to come! Another great story, Rosema. Wonderful! 😀

    1. That is so true, Thomas.
Though there really are love stories without happy endings, there are some which lingers forever. That after everything’s been said and done, that after you have part ways, there is a tinge of love that remains.

      1. Every single person you meet will have some impact on who you are and who you become, even if you don’t recognize it. When those people are people you love, then the impact is deeper. So true!
