Songs I Wish Were Books

“…funny how a beautiful song could tell such a sad story” ― Sarah Dessen, Lock and Key

I know Valentine’s is over but the The Broke and the Bookish‘s Top Ten Tuesday today just made my heart skip a beat.

February 16: songs I wish that were books

Books and songs are, for me,the greatest things invented. With a very very very happy heart, here are the songs I wish, and hope, that were books! ❤

1. Breathe Again by Sara Bareilles

Breathe Again

My first ever fictional series, Seasons (first, second, third and epilogueis actually inspired by this song. 🙂

2. Floodgates by Colbie Callait

This song is just empowering. 🙂

3. Never Seen Anything ‘Quite Like You’ by The Script

My cheesiest short story to date, Quite Like You, is inspired by this beautiful beautiful song. 🙂

4. I Won’t Give Up Jason Mraz

Well this song tugs the heart! ❤

5. Touch the Sky by Hillsong United

I have written a poem about this song titled To the Holder of My Life’s Map, and if this will be made into a book, I know a lot will be able to relate.

6. She Used to be Mine by Sara Bareilles

A sad yet moving song. I have written a short-story about this, too, titled Used to be Mine.

7. Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran

Yet another cheesy song, well… this one’s really kilig-inducing. Perfect for an awesome romance novel, I guess? 🙂

8. Free Fallin’ by John Mayer

A romantic but necessarily a happy song. Hmm… interesting, right? 🙂

    1. Oh that is so true! I believe Ed Sheeran is one of the best lyricist that we have today and I guess every song from him deserves a novel. 😀

BTW, Photograph is actually the theme song of the movie adaptation of the hit novel Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. 🙂

  1. I recognize only the last lyrics you shared – Tom Petty’s ‘Free Falling’. I’d say any number of songs could make great stories for novels. There are some really great storytellers out there. I’d have too many to mention 🙂
