  1. Yes, it does. Though I think death has its own purpose. So does life. I’m not sure we’d need death in order to appreciate life, but this reaction happens anyway. I think your words are universally correct. Thanks!

    1. Thank you, Christopher. It is based on my observation. My Godfather died last month. He is just 56 years old, and he is a dear friend of my father. He died because of cancer and more complications. After he died, my father is now more concious about his health. Before he use to drink a lot, almost every day, now he almost stopped. So goes the quote that I posted. 🙂

      4. Oh yes… how brave is that, Mel. Personally, I have no close encounter with dealing with death. (Except that moment when my youngest sister almost died in my arms when she was just a day-old baby.) So thank you, Mel!

    1. That is so true, PJ. Father has been hard-headed in terms of drinking. His heart is a bit fragile and he is actually taking some meds. Drinking is not good for him but he seldom listened. Now he do. 🙂

      1. That’s good that he is finally listening. My dad was an alcoholic and pretty much drank until he was in his 60’s when he finally stopped drinking (mostly, however, he would binge on occasions). He died of cancer in his 70’s.

      5. Wow, that’s scary if he has been in brink of death situations. Hopefully, he will lead a much healthier life now. My mom is now 86 years old. She’s pretty old and we are getting ready to place her in a nursing home.

      11. That was her choice – to live with my brother and his wife. They have a gorgeous home with a huge, beautiful yard. They have a horse. I had asked her to live with me but she chose my brother’s and I don’t blame her. He has a much nicer home than me.

      13. Yes, she wanted what my brother had to offer and I don’t blame her. I don’t have an apartment off of my house like he does, for her to live in. And, she has a beautiful view of his gorgeous yard. (His wife has many different flower beds). Thank you for listening, Rosema!

      14. Oh, now I understand. I think old women surely find comfort is flowers. You may not be able to provide her that kind of home but I think she surely doesn’t love you less. You are her daughter and I think moms love their daughters a lot. ❤
