Let’s Talk (please?)

Have some coffee with me? 🙂

January is now coming to an end! (Am I the only one who feels like time really do fly?) The coming month, I can sense, will be hectic for me (work, of course!), that’s why I make the most of January and almost perfectly published two posts a day! 😀 (A miracle, I must say!)

So… why do I want to have coffee with you. Hmm… (come on, let’s just savour our cakes so we can concentrate better! <3)

Going back, I have two major blog updates! (I think I’ve been ‘over sharing’ some personal stuffs here so no more personal updates! 😀 I might be boring you already, I know!)

First, starting February 01, 2015, A Reading Writer will be an AWARD-FREE BLOG.

I mean no offense to anyone. I am more than honoured to have several blog awards from lovely people. I am still grateful because those awards have been instrumental in my blog’s growth.

I know I always say “Nothing beats the joy of getting acknowledgements from your co-bloggers.” But as my blog ‘aged’, I come to realize that awards are great, but something is better, yes, something can beat the joy of having an award. And that is your comments.

Comments encourages. Comments are like cheerleaders that make you want to write more, and writer better. Can I ask for more? 🙂

Second, I would like to consult you about my blog calendar.

I am trying to make a calendar, weekly calendar of posts, and I am honestly having a hard time finalizing it. Because, I think my blog is currently experiencing identity crisis! (It isn’t near puberty age yet! Goodness!)

A Reading Writer, that’s what it’s called, and I am finding it hard to balance the reader-self and the writer-self. Can you help me figure it out???

Please check-out the table below and please tell me if, if, if, you think you’ll be fine reading these from me! PLEASE?

My dilemma is that…I am not quite unsure, too, if I can really write four fictions a week:/

And… I am having second thought too because these weekly features might make my blog predictable… And I am not sure if it is a good or a bad thing…

And… do you think it’s ‘balanced’ enough?

Soo… let’s drink our coffee now. Cheers!

Thank you for listening to me.

I hope I can hear from you, soon, too?

Till our next coffee date?

🙂

  1. About your daily goals- it’s up to you to decide what you can do. If you think you can not write four fictions a week, decrease the amount. Add some of your new ‘features’ if you can. Otherwise you can just blog on random things. It might be a sound idea to enhance your writing and to be less predictable.

  2. About your daily goals- it’s up to you to decide. If you think you can not complete them, remove from your calendar or add an alternative. If you think it is difficult to write four fictions a week, decrease the number. You can do some special posts or random posts instead. That might be a sound way of expressing yourself as well as making yourself unpredictable.

  3. Wow you are also going award free. Great start.
Four fictions a week? Wow, if you really want to do it then you must and if you want to make it different as in post two fictions and some other things then be that.. Your writing is amazing so I won’t be surprised if you write 4 fictions after all… I was in the middle of writing one post for January end when I looked at mails and show your post email.. Lovely I must say, isn’t it wonderful how we grow as we write and share and communicate? ❤ it.

    1. Yes I am! 😀 Awards are great but I think I’ve had enough. 🙂 It’s the chance of those newbies to be nominated. 🙂

And… wow! Thank you for the encouragement, Hemangini! ❤ I really appreciate it! 🙂

And yes, it is actually fascinating how we grow and built friendships in a virtual world. ❤

      Thank you! 😀

  4. I admire your dedication to starting a blogging calendar. I thought of it before, but with my work schedule and hours, it’ll be challenging for me to to meet it. I had to cut one weekly feature, and even that was running on a Sunday! I write based on what I feel that day… So I wouldn’t want to feel constrained. Whatever you decide to do, make sure it’s what you like and want to do. Yes making your readers happy is important but first you need to be happy too. Good luck, my dear! 😀 ❤️

      1. Oh, I hope you still have that vigor that you need for the rest of the week! 😀

Monday and Tuesday has been great, today and Thursday are the critical days! 😀

Cheers to an awesome week, Annie! 😀

  5. I completely agree with Annie about making YOU first happy, then us. I personally love being better organized and knowing on what days are my “free” days to post about whatever, and the days that I actually write and schedule posts early. I am still trying to balance it all, but what I would say, is definitely try it!

  6. Welcome to Award Free Blog Club! 😄Annie is right! You must be happy and enjoy doing all those. Although I write for all 4 flash fictions that you’ve mentioned, I don’t write all 4 on a weekly basis. If I have the time, I will. Else I’ll be selective. This is your blog, your voice, your space. No one can penalise you. When you are happy, you produce good results. You shouldn’t feel pressurised to post everyday. I only post whenever I can. Hope this helps. All the best! 😘

  7. I also follow a blogging calendar and decided to do it on Mondays, Sundays and Fridays. It’s hard if you plan to do it everyday especially if you have work and other non-blogging things you’d like to do. The pressure will be too much to handle if you have to post everyday

  8. Rather than schedule every day, why don’t you give yourself a day off each week. That day can be reserved for reflection, rest, and brainstorming. If you feel like writing that day, you can get a jump start on the next week’s posts. Start with something you know you can do and build from there. I have had great plans for my blog, but as a single mother working two jobs, life can sometimes get in the way of writing. Go easy on yourself. You are doing a great job! 🙂

    1. Oh yes, I think I am being hard on myself. Thank you! Your words cleared my mind and gave me a better perspective on things. I am surely ambitious and I need to know your thoughts and I am so happy for the time you’ve given me. 🙂 Thank you! 😀

  9. That is an ambitious schedule, but I believe in you! I find that a schedule can be the best motivation, since you’ve already made a promise to yourself, you know? And even if it becomes too much down the line, I don’t think your readers would be upset with tweaks. It’s *your* writing afterall!

  10. I don’t blame you for going to an Awards Free Blog. They can become very overwhelming. My blog is awards free. You have a very ambitious blogging calendar and to blog so much might cause burn out. Just a thought…

  11. I think I discarded my draft before finishing and sending along the comment. If that draft went through, then I apologize for unhelpful redundancy. (I’d rather be helpfully redundant).

Your writing is a gift. A present I look forward to every time you send something. (Your photographs are presents, too.) Specific purposes matter, but I always enthusiastically anticipate what you send for whatever reason. Schedules are important, though so is your sanity. I think the schedule’s supposed to help in that. And, you know, I’d like you to have joy in what you do.

So that which keeps you balanced and with a measure of delight–well, go with that.

While I’ve been writing (both times), I’ve been drinking coffee and munching on a croissant. Thanks for having coffee and cake with me.

These words just warmed my heart, like really. ❤ Thank you, for taking time to 'talk' to me. You're not redundant but if you were I wouldn't mind. 🙂
Thank you for giving me the two sides of the coin. I am finally having a clearer mind on how I will balance things. 🙂

Thank you, again, and please pass me some croissant! 😀

  12. Sounds good. I’m generally award free unless I have the time. They look good on my awards section of my FB page for the blog though. But really once you’ve received them it’s good enough. You look like you have a busy blogging schedule. I don’t know how you keep it up with work. Best of luck !

    Like

      1. Well, I have things generally scheduled but sometimes I have to move things around because I find something comes up. Or I want to blog about something I enjoy blogging about but don’t do it all the time
        Sunday – Sunday Photo Fiction
        Monday – Lists with LaDuchess
Tuesday – Flash Fiction for Aspiring
Wednesday – Literary Lion (every two weeks) and whatever poem/etc on none Wednesday’s
Thursday – Echo’s of my Neighbourhood with Jacqueline
Friday – Flash Fiction for the Purposeful practitioner
        Saturday – free – updates/poems/etc

So you kind of get an idea. But I have found you have to be flexible with certain posts and when you release them. I do tend to put out more posts then this, I think you are ambitious for someone working full time to do your schedule but it could work well for you too!

  13. Rosemaaaaa! (I hope you heard that coz I just called you out loud). Just imagine me as some normal friend giving you a bear hug. *here you go*

I commend you for having such organized plans as opposed to me since I’m a cluttered type of person: no calendars, no scheduled posts. I couldn’t agree more from what they’re all saying. I just want you to be happy with your blog without a trace of pressure in your every post. We’re all here, excitedly waiting for them- whatever they are. 😀 As for the fictions, I really am happy to see you joining them but like what I’ve said don’t put pressure in them. I, too, have to pass (though I really try not to as much as possible) whenever I ran out of creative juices. You don’t have to write it within that specific day, just within the time frame. 🙂 Also, more than just being balanced, I would prefer you being carefree. Just the happy reading writer who freely shares her thoughts and feelings as they are. Smiles! 😉 :*

    1. Mariaaaaa! :’) I am tearfully so happy to read your words. Like… really really happy. I am so touched and yes to being carefree and happy! 😀 😀 😀
Thank you soooooooo much! It is a great feeling to know that no matter what post I wrote, I know I got someone on my back! 😉 :-*

  14. Wow! Hats off for setting up a thorough calendar 🙂
I’m all for planning and scheduling. Even I have a calendar and I decide all my posts a month in advance.
Your schedule is quite nice, but as a planner myself I see a little problem- It’s way too much for 1 week. Trust me, I’ve been there.
I’d suggest making a schedule for only alternate days. If you write anything extra you can always post it accordingly.

    Here’s what I do:
    Monday: A post on writing
    Wednesday: Flash Fiction
    Friday: Word Of The Week

Now, as you can see on my blog, I mostly miss out on either Mon or Wed. So, you see. Even after having a simple schedule I miss out on even alternate days. I’d really recommend to use an alternate day plan first and then go for the daily one. It’ll help you get there easily.
    Hope it helps 🙂

    1. Oh wow! Thank you for your insightful thoughts, Heena! ❤ ❤ ❤
Yes, I am now getting a clearer view of things and I understand that this schedule is truly ambitious. 🙂

And, by the way, the word of the week is inspired by you! 😀

  15. I wish I had could keep a blog schedule, but I find it hard to do. Long story there, but what ever make you happy. Just remember, don’t burn yourself out. Blogging should be fun and not a stress out routine. It always good to take a small break here and there and do other things not blog related.

  16. I’m late to the coffee date but as you can see, I’ve been catching up on your posts while treadmilling!😆 Welcome to the Award Free Club!👍 I agree with everyone above, esp. Mandi and Sheridan. Do what you feel you can handle and if it doesn’t work, lessen the posts. Being a “planner” as opposed to a “pantser”, I prefer my predictable calendar approach – I know what I’m giving and if something comes up, I can bump a Thursday idea to the next week. Actually, I just bumped my entire April to May because I’m participating in the A to Z challenge. Whatever you do, I’ll be reading!

    1. Better late than never, Marquessa! Yes, I noticed and thank you for reading while treadmilling! 😀 (Is it easy? :D)
And… thank you for sharing your thoughts. Your last line melted my heart. ❤

Lastly, what is the A to Z challenge? 😀 Thank you, Marquessa!
