Forgotten: Photo Fiction

140 01 January 24th 2016

“Look! Isn’t it majestic?”

“Come on, take my photo! Show the whole building!”

“That’s the famous building? WOW!”

With silent mouth and noisy mind, I silenced my screams of annoyance for these people. These trying hard, ignorant humans!

I am sitting just across that majestic glass building, and no one bothered to look at me. No one!

Because I am dirty? Because my ripped shirt and pants are as black as their cars’ smoke? Because my graying hair looked like webs of dirt? Because I sit on the cold cement holding a rusting can waiting for their coins?

Didn’t they know that that is my building! Yes, that gorgeous building is mine!

I am the owner of the land where it stood.

I am the owner of every bits of pieces used for it!

I am the owner of the companies inside it!

I am!

I am…

I am…

Wait, who am I?

In response to Sunday Photo Fiction for January 24th 2016.

Sunday Photo Fiction is a weekly writing challenge hosted by Alastair Forbes where a photo is used as a prompt for a piece of fiction using around 200 words. The piece doesn’t have to center around exactly what the photo is, it can be just used as a basis for a story.

Thank you to my lovely Filipina (virtual) friend Maria of Doodles and Scribbles for introducing me to this challenge!

      1. Yeah, I wasn’t kinda getting to go through the Reader for some time now. It actually takes myself some reminding to go through the blogs I follow – even last October I didn’t think this was possible – staying away from the blogosphere. But life has its own way, I guess 😛

  1. Ohh… I’m excited to hear his speech out loud! I wonder how those other people would react? 😀 But who is he, really? Clever take, Rosema. This keeps me guessing who that man is. 😀

      1. HAHAHA! How about you do a sequel? 😀

I’ve read in Fangirl about that. The character, I forgot her name, write the first part, and then her writing partner write the second part, and then she’ll do the third and soooo on. What’d you think? 😀

      2. Oh geez! Now I’m interested! 😀 😀 I haven’t read Fangirl yet but hmm.. why don’t we try. I might be able to come up with a sequel one of these days. That would be fun for us and Mr. Grey. *evil laugh*

  2. Welcome to Sunday Photo Fiction 🙂 I read your comments on Maria’s post and was hoping your would write.

The amount of people who were sitting opposite the Shard, and other landmarks in London was distressing. You never know their full story. Which ones may have been so rich and now they are on the streets with nothing.

A very good insight into the mind of someone who has lost it all.

    1. Hi there! Thank you for the warm welcome! 😀 It was Maria who introduced me to this challenge and I think I am up to it.

Yes, that is exactly my point. That this world has a lot of stories untold and no one could ever grasp them all.

      Thanks again!

      1. I read once of someone who was addressing the homeless problem. She said that she worked with people on the streets, and helping them isn’t as easy as “Here’s a house, go live in it”. Their story may have resulted in them hitting rock bottom and some may still have a fair way to fall yet before they can start to repair themselves. The reasons could be due to alcoholism, gambling, or some other way that they cannot keep track of their money and by giving them a home may exasperate the problem. Their issues need addressing before their lifestyle can alter.

      2. Yes. I agree. Homelessness is a dire problem in my country, too. And I think the reason why it remains unsolved is because of the homeless people, too. Because of the choices they made. Because of their concious decision to remain homeless.
