They say I’m fat,
oh, I don’t do weight’s math.
Yes, I don’t care!
–
They say my nose’s flat,
oh, and I have bulky butt!
Hell, I don’t care!
–
They say my face’s ugly,
oh, yes I’m not pretty.
Hell, I don’t care!
–
Reading these words,
of fake and fallacy,
I cried.
Yes, I do care.

Day 6: Fallacy By @jdoublep
Unsound arguments. Failures of reason.
Today, let’s write poems that are wholly illogical.
Let’s see how miserably we can get reason to fail; both our reason and the reason that guides our readers.
P.S.
I am not sure if I got this one, right?
Would love to hear your thoughts, Jason.
Thanks!

Since I’m just as confused, I can’t comment on whether it’s fallacy. But I really love what you wrote. It’s true that outwardly we say we don’t care, but inwardly, we do! Great piece! 😀

Thank you, Fun! I am now really nervous that I didn’t make it right! 😀
But nonetheless, I love your kind words. 🙂 Thanks!

I’m still learning about fallacy myself, but I enjoyed your poem 😀

Thank you, Annie! 🙂 I can now smile because Ben said this is indeed a fallacy-inspired poem! 😀

Really hit the nail on the head with your poem! It’s the most human of fallacies, great work!

Thank you, Clarissa! 🙂 I am not quite sure after I hit that published button, but… it is indeed a fallacy according to you, guys! ❤
Thank you!

Dear Rose,
I have to say it too. Well written piece. And you really hit the button. We all say we don’t care but we actually do care and it hurts… I hope it’s not your story, no one deserves bullying. I know what I’m talking about. But that’s now four years ago. So just to tell. Well made.
Bye

It is ‘somehow’ my story. The only difference is that I never cried because I care but not much. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words. I truly appreciate it when you guys read and leave comments. ❤

I’m sorry that you had to go through this. No one deserves bullying. But I’m happy that you were strong enough to see that it’s bullshit what they’re telling you. I liked it a lot. Thank you for doing it so great. Bye

Yay! Thank you! This is fictional, though. 🙂

Oh okay sorry. Um I just forgot that it was fictional. But it was a bit because of myself. Never mind. Bye 🙂

There is no right or wrong! The only objective was to get you to push your creative boundaries – so good work. 🙂 In revision, I’d suggest trying this piece without your final stanza – by the time we (your readers) get there, we can tell the speaker does care. Keep it up!

That is a really good take on fallacy. Now I am feeling less clueless about how to tackle this one. I’m sorry you were bullied. I’m not sure anyone survived middle school/junior high without going through that or experiencing other peer created evils.

Thank you, Melinda! This is actually a fictional poem. Though I am the girl being described, I somehow managed to not care. 🙂 And I am somehow surrounded with good classmates. 🙂

I can see your heart here sweet angel! There are so many people that remain prisoners of these cruel lies.

Yes. That is so true. And I feel for them. I am sad for them. It’s just not fair.

It is very hard to be bullied and to not care. Or have people talk behind your back. To pretend you don’t care but you still do, but maybe if you think and say you don’t care you won’t care, but it doesn’t work that way sometimes. Great poem on fallacy. I hope it wasn’t true for you.

Those are such true thoughts Mandi.
And this us not a bit about me. 🙂 Though I am exactly the woman described here, I have learned to not care. 🙂
Thanks again!
