“Only a person with a Best Seller mind can write Best Sellers.” – Aldous Huxley
Debuts. First times. Fresh. New.
That’s The Broke and the Bookish idea of Top Ten Tuesday for this week!
November 3: Top Ten Debut Authors Who Have Me Looking Forward To Their Sophomore Novel
And because I am not quite sure if I have read 10 debut authors, that will depend on what Goodreads will say, I am including authors that I have read FOR THE FIRST TIME and I will probably look forward in reading their words again! 🙂
Let the list begin!
— DEBUT AUTHORS —
Robert Galbraith , J.K. Rowling
I had no idea that Galbraith was actually J.K. Rowling but… this debut book is just creepy at its best!
The debut was great but the current sequels aren’t really impressive. 😦
I am just a big fan of sometimes-lovable-sometimes-irritating Don Tillman! 😀
Still Alice is a debut novel? I didn’t know that until now! But it was one of my great reads for this year!
I may not like the edning of this debut novel but I will surely read Nicola Yoon’s sophomore book! 🙂
— AUTHORS I’VE READ FOR THE FIRST TIME —
Indeed one of the best books of this year! 🙂
I just love the melancholic and creepy story told by a unique storyteller.
If you think you’ve read the same story, think again. Liane Moriarty’s original twist and turns will surely surprise you.
I now understand why Picoult is one of the most-loved authors. 🙂
I am just sooo excited to read Carry On! 😀
That’s it for this week!
I would love to read your Top Ten Debut Authors, too!!!
🙂
What a great list. Some of these require me to add them to my reading list, especially the pseudo for J.K Rowling. I have read Still Alice and I did not like it. I also read the Lovely Bones and watched the movie after, It was interesting, the murdered girls view from heaven. But on earth her family fell apart over her murder, and that was tragic and awful.

Your knowledge about those books are awesome! 😀 It’s just sad that you don;t like Still Alice because I like it. 🙂
Please do read Robert Galbraith! It’s gross but great! 😀
Thank you for visiting!

Lol. I know I guess it just was heart breaking to me to that she was slowly unraveling due to Alzheimer’s. I like more happy books, I guess I read for entertainment. Good post though.

Women can scare me, men can’t. It depends a lot on the voice of the writer.

Hahaha! So I guess J.K. Rowling can scare you! 😀

I still need to read Rowling as Galbraith – I have no idea why I’m putting it off. 🙂

I’ve always wanted to read the Lovely Bones after I saw the movie. Also, a big fan of Rowling so I do intend on reading her work that isn’t magic related. Thanks for the suggestions!

Nice list, I haven’t read all of these authors but I’ll like for some for a new voice! I didn’t care for the Lovely Bones. Toward the end I thought there was a lot of contradiction, but no one else I’ve talked to saw it. Good going getting a discussion started! 🙂

I really love your choice of books! It seems that we have pretty similar taste in books and authors! :DD Btw, do you have Goodreads account? I’d love to be your friend there so we can discuss about books there! ^^

Glad to know you, then! 😀 I would love to get your suggestions too if we have the same ‘book taste’! 😀

Already sent a friend request! I think you’re much more active here on your blog than goodreads, right? :>

Yeah! Exactly. Haha. Because I have no one to talk to there. It’s like a have that account so I can list my reads and have some recommendation by Goodreads. But if I have you as a friend, then I’d really be active there, too! 😀

Nice list. Lovely Bones – read that one about 3 times now. That and “One True Thing” (Anna Quindlen) are 2 books many people couldn’t understand how I could read after my mom died. Jodi Picoult, love her writing although sometimes don’t like the way the book ends. Storyteller by her is a great read. I have a list of books I want for Christmas and some of the above are on that list.

I like to read series. David Baldacci has several – Camel Club, John Puller and Will Robie are the ones I read. They are spy, assassin, military type thrillers. James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club series. T.R. Ragan – The Lizzy Gardner series. Linda Castillo – Kate Burkholder series. Janet Evanovich – Stephanie Plum series (I live in the area of NJ where the book is set). Karin Slaughter – Grant County and Will Trent series – they tie into each other. I started reading Lisa Scottoline – various books and the Rosato & Associates series. I also like Mary Higgins Clark. If you can’t tell, I like to read. And I can give you recommendations for the specific authors I listed. Ask and you shall receive 😃
